NY 6 consists of six bowl games with many more at large bids and it pits the top 4 in a playoff. Was harder to get a BCS at large spot than it is a NY 6 at large spot. Both are great achievements though.

You're crazy. Finishing 7th and winning the Orange Bowl is the peak of Ferentzs career. It would have been for Fry too
Why would you expect to play a good opponent in the San Diego County Credit Union bowl?
ISU wouldn't have made a BCS bowl as an at large this year under the BCS system. Adding the Peach and Cotton to the mix made it possible for ISU to get the Fiesta. Different times. Both are great achievements.
Just like it was different times for ISU in the 70s by not getting bowl games and having good teams. Game was different.

Granted, next steps are going to get much tougher for ISU but you have to like the momentum and it is looking more and more like there is no step back at all for ISU in 21-22. I think we have to expect to be 1 or 2 in the conference again next year with probably 1 or 2 conference losses.
If it is <2 and we don't come out of the gate slow, that puts us in the CFP discussion for real.

Hard to say. Our schedule will start with 2 ranked opponents. A 2-0 start would have us sitting pretty high in the polls I would imagine. As with most seasons we would have to get to the conference Championship game with 1 loss or less to have any shot at the playoffs. Will be pretty tough to do.
And yet USC last year in the Holiday bowl was a better team than Oregon this year in the Fiesta Bowl.
