The Fran fade

The replay of that 3 is on ESPN. It was a tough shot for sure, but it was over Toussaint (only 1 person - look at the video evidence), & Joe was NOT up in Carr's grill. It was a tough shot, not because he wasn't open, but because he had to release it quickly before the defender got closer to him. Iowa would have been better off with all perimeter defenders on Minny's last possession & conceding the two pt basket - poor coaching & defense is what cost you the game.
Just saw it. You can't go under that screen in that situation. Wow

I was thinking the same thing but this won't be a normal tourney either...Not having any fans i think actually helps good teams.

I think that's the case for the regular season, but im not sure that's the case for the tourney. Because if theyre a top seed, they mightve been placed in a favorable location where they could have brought a lot of their own fans.

Carr had 30 points on 16 shots. Garza had 32 points on 27 shots lol
CyTwins... we need to let cyhawk1605 finish his bottle of Hawkeye... he’s been alright tonight . I feel like he’s watching replays of the game in slow mo right now and realizing Iowa just doesn’t have great defense.

Signing off for a while. Going to play NCAA 14 drunk with my brother and cousins. Not mad anymore, just angry.

As long as Fran’s answer to not being able to get stops is to rely on his zone, IA’s offense can only carry them so far. IA bb is the polar opposite of IA fb- bb: “Lets just outscore them.” Fb: “Let’s play solid D and hope they turn it over at a critical point in the game.”

And, no- JR did not give Carr fits. Carr may end up POY in league and had 30- JT missed crucial FR’s down the stretch and, at 6’0”, can’t afford to blow defensive coverages.

Imagine this team without Garza.....

Garza is a Fran recruiting and development success.

The rest of the roster is family members (Fran's and former players) and kids who grew up Iowa football fans. They're lucky one of those kids is a very good all around player.

Recruiting, yes, but is Fran or Frank more responsible for Luka's transformation into being of the best in college?

Iowa fans’ expectations are too high. This is the exact same team as last year (except worse because Bohannon is back in the rotation). Iowa will do just fine, but it isn’t a Final 4 team (without some things really bouncing their way). They should at least try to get back to Sweet 16 first.

Joe T is very good and should get way more minutes. Incredible speed, great passing abilities, and very good defender.
Who does Joe T usually sub in for? That will answer the question on why he doesn't get more minutes.

Hard to believe Fran's only success in player development over 10 years is Garza. And that Frank is the real reason for the development.

I love how Marc Emmett writes in his article:

"The Big Ten is the best league in the nation this winter..."

He writes this as fact, not opinion. He writes this in an article for the DM Register, not a hawkeye fan website. He writes this despite the fact that half of the Big 12 conference is ranked in the top 15 in the nation.

Great way to wake up the morning and see all the great posts. No mention of Connor though.....

it’s always that “meat grinder” of a schedule in the B1G.
