The Fran fade

What a pleasing end of Christmas present:)).

Long season to go...But Iowa isn't a Top 5-10 teaam IMO.. Only reason they are Top 10 now is Garza...that's it. Take him away and this isn't even a bubble team. Don't get me wrong..JW is good and CJ Fred can shoot..but he can shoot in part bc defenses are so focused on stopping Garza. Take that away and JW and CJ would have a much harder time. But..lol..Garza is there and Iowa is incredibly fortunate he is.
lots of us have been saying this all off season. what happens when people figure out or at least slow Garza down. Can't shoot lights out every game

Listened to the sports this morning and Iowa still has that, "tired of getting beat by teams that we are better than" attitude -- at least from the players.

Having said that, it would not shock me to see Iowa in the Final Four and/or win the Big 10. But like Pope and others have said a few posts back, they are going to have to play better defense.

No team with a defense this bad has ever made the Final Four

I agree 100% with you. (I can't think of a time when I disagreed with you). I was just saying I would not be shocked if one or both of those things happen to Iowa. I also wouldn't be surprised if they lose in the first round of the Big 10 and/or NCAA tournament. After all, Fran is still the coach ;)

Fran has never taken a team to the sweet 16.

He's got the best player around and will piss it away with coaching.

If you just slow down Garza a little. I don’t think the rest of the team can be good enough to win big games. Garza gonna get his 30 points. I think Wiescamp can get hot sometimes but overall he has been a huge disappointment since he had a good freshman year

You sure seem to carry a lot of anger on here. What happened, your wife leave you for someone else. I guess I wouldn’t blame her with your hot headed posts on here. Sure hope you don’t have high blood pressure. Mods probably should ban you so you don’t get all lathered up on here and have a heart attack or something. They would be doung you and the rest of us a favor and also could help save your life. Life is too short, enjoy it!

If Iowa would have won he probably would have.

He left his shoes on the floor at Hilton after going 2-12 from the field..... that's just embarrassing.
So let me get this straight...Boner is leaving a pair of signed shoes on the away courts this year. Is it win dependent? What happens next year...year six by the way...a signed pair of Jockeys? Was this year signed "The Airballer"?

Iowa fans’ expectations are too high. This is the exact same team as last year (except worse because Bohannon is back in the rotation). Iowa will do just fine, but it isn’t a Final 4 team (without some things really bouncing their way). They should at least try to get back to Sweet 16 first.
The idea that a team jumps from a 7 seed to a final four team by bringing everybody back is not really how it works any more. Freshmen are really ready to play these days and transfers enable quick turnaround.

Now Iowa is a very good team with the best offensive big in the game. With the lack of practice and non-con they have a huge advantage, but they need to make some serious hay early. Because of their experience they aren’t going to improve as much as other teams that are fitting in new starters.

While the one season with Uthoff they did absolutely collapse down the stretch. But largely Fran has only had good teams when they bring back tons of experience. That experience gets them some good early wins, but other less experienced teams catch up as the season goes on.
