Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Yep I was told before the season and then again in January that it was the plan all along. I'm not why it's a big deal nobody is complaining about it but the whole "you can't criticize Patrick because he was sick last year" just isn't true
As long as he doesn't play when he is 24, benji knows their birthdays and thinks its bad if they do and will call him out.

Well any time you play some games knowing you're going to take a medical redshirt you're technically manipulating the rule. Naz did it. No big deal. I'm not sure why this is upsetting to you guys lol

You were making it sound like Iowa was breaking rules or doing something unethical.

No. I don't think Patrick is off limits because he redshirted last year is all. I'm not sure Foster is off limits either. If you want to make fun of him it just makes you sound dumb given the situation

Gotcha. My bad. Foster is going to need some time, everyone knew this.

Doesn't this schtick get old? It seems year after year you are full of excuses. Just admit for once that Iowa actually has a pretty good squad.

Then that would require him to admit he had a lot of bad takes the last couple years about Wieskamp, Garza, Fredrick, etc.

Iowa State is better in football and Iowa is better in basketball this year. There you go

Not sure I've ever had a bad take on Wieskamp. I've piled on when he was bad in stretches but I've always thought he was good since he committed

In hindsight, would you have traded one year of Talen Horton-Tucker for at least three years and maybe four of Wieskamp?

At this point no. If we are 9/10 in the conference for 2-3 more years, then that may change. Right now there is an attraction of NBA draft potential in Ames. That helps pull recruits.

I can see your point, but Horton-Tucker probably would have been a 1st round draft pick no matter where he went to college. I don't think ISU did anything special to get him drafted. He was pretty much ready to go from the start.

True, but it is just like the Kentucky one and dones. They could have went to any large school and been drafted. Remember when you were a HS kid, you didn't analyze it like that. You would look and say, they pump people into the NBA, I want to go to the NBA, I'm going there. They have 5 second attention spans and think with their pecker. Pitino got good recruits because he bought hookers for the recruits.

I just don't think Iowa will ever really be in a position to have a bunch of one and dones so I'm liking the approach of trying to find players that may develop and stay four or more years. Guys like Aaron White and Wieskamp and Niang.

Niang, monte and the crew were the guys that got us THT, Hali and the like. We had guys hook on to the league (plus prohm had a couple at Murray state) so he looked like a guy, and ISU a program, that could get them there. I honestly would like us to have a blend of 2 year guys like Hali and 4 year guys like Niang and monte. Throw in a Shayok or Kane to finish it out and we are in great shape. Right now, Prohm can't afford a bunch of one and dones. His ranks are too thin. I think he tried to rebuild too quickly after that 7 senior class and should have been handed a two year window to clean things up and get them on track. Hopefully that is what he is doing now with this and next years class.
