He isn't comparing Iowa's success to WIsconsin's? He is just saying that you can build a program on non-nba players and on players that stay for 4 or more years. Wisconsin has proven that.

Yes, thank you for providing one example across a sport involving over 300 Division I programs. I am convinced it is normal and commonplace for programs to be built this way now. You're an idiot. This all started from @Cyinthenorth saying no program keeps more than a couple guys around for 4-5 years. Wisconsin basketball disagrees.
To think you cant build a program with 4-5 year guys is stupid. Look at all the mid majors every year that make the round of 32 or sweet 16 with guys that are not good enough for the NBA.
You all act like building a program ranked #3 in the nation with 4 or 5 year players is a bad thing.

The last 8 years results for Wisconsin when an NCAA tournament was held:
First Round Loss
Did not make the tourney
Sweet 16
Sweet 16
Runner Up
Final Four
First Round Loss
Sweet 16
And so far he has built a team. A program is when you have waves of players come through and success is sustained. Fran right now is riding Garza. This is good for McCaffrey. Frankly, it's not surprising. Based on where the program was heading a few years ago I feared for his life. I am guessing he found a new level of motivation after a few 'meetings' around the dinner table with Margaret.
And ISU does?
Was the topic not about building a program without NBA players? When Iowa State was good we didn't play good defense, but we had NBA guys on our roster.

Wisconsin (and similarly Virginia both) play defense and a methodically slow and calculated offense.Maybe you can if you play defense. Iowa doesn't do that.

Oh ****, Benji going all hypothetical again? This is getting old.
What is your definition of a "few years ago"?
The two things clear in the last 12 hours is you are very cranky and you have no clue what the word hypothetical means.

The Iowa MBB program has produced great car and insurance salesmen over the years as well.We have 1 player from ISU probably making more than every player from iowa over the last 5 years combined, regardless of their job.
I will grant though that iowa players tend to get hold their own on getting twitter attention.
Just glad we now know what your definition of first round is.What is your definition of a "few years ago"?
Proving his point?KenPom AdjD ranks when ISU was good:
2011-2012: 66
2012-2013: 123
2013-2014: 55
2014-2015: 59
2015-2016: 91
2016-2017: 42
2018-2019: 47
KenPom AdjD ranks when ISU was not good:
2017-2018: 143
2019-2020: 147

Comparing Iowa to Wisconsin is laughable. Iowa gets up and down the floor and doesn't play defense.
I was going to say, nothing wrong with it exactly, but just completely unheard of in the modern era of college basketball. Teams might have 2 or 3 upperclassmen at a time, but to have 7 guys last that long in a program is rare.
