They try to frame an argument they can win because they haven't won on the field vs Iowa, based on record vs Iowa, or in the AP poll when compared to Iowa. SOS is their comfortable security blanket aka their only leg to stand on.
Terrific deflection. We were discussing how "easy" it is playing in the Big 12 conference. That was the topic. Nice job moving the goal posts though.
Iowa State is a top 20 team. What are you talking about?
Seems like it’s pretty easy playing in the Big XII conference this year considering the 1st and 2nd place teams both lost to Sun Belt schools.
It varies by year for sure. This year the Big12 is hot garbage, but a few years ago it was fairly tough. The majority of reputable SOS metrics say Iowa SOS was tougher last year. They say ISU's was tougher in '18, Iowa's was tougher in '17 and '16. So basically 3 of the last 4 years Iowa's was tougher.
By what degree? Very small margin if we are being honest. I mean these SOS metrics are all over the place. In the same year you have at least one of the metrics saying the opposite of these results. SOS metrics are pretty much a joke, and resting your hat on them is a complete joke. Yet it seems that is all ISU fans do, so it means so do the Hawk fans here. There is nothing more valuable to a ISU fan than SOS, they can tell themselves just how awesome they could be if they were just somewhere else.
At least we are playing football. Can't wait to hear the reasons why Iowa lost this year.

Iowa has made the tournament 3 times in 10 years under Fran. No that's not good
It is 4 times and he was guaranteed 5 times before covid hit. I can't put the covid pandemic on Fran. But you do you.
How was I deflecting? I was responding to a direct quote about a Sun Belt school by saying a Sun Belt school was better than over half the teams Iowa plays this year.
It's not a deflection and it's an actual fact that you can't even refute at the moment.
