Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

Of course we are going to poke fun at Iowa just as hoks will for any challenges we have.

This is way beyond a challenge and fun poking. This is a state level issue facing a state institution and young people. A bit more than bragging rights at stake on this pissing match.

You make some good points. Particularly regarding it being a state level issue. There can be finger pointing and outrage within the state of Iowa but once you leave the cozy confines of the state borders, or at least the Midwest, when something like this occurs in Iowa city (or if it would've happened in Ames) the majority of the country sees a spot or two in the news cycle and walks away just thinking IOWANS are racists. To a lot of people this is just flyover country whether we want to admit it or not. Stereotyping is wrong and in some ways is a bit similar to racism. I'm a Hawkeye fan and will never apologize for that but I am sorry for the fact that black student athletes came to the University I love and were made to feel uncomfortable or treated unfairly. What is happening right now is not good for the U of I's image but it's also not good for the entire state. Ames included.

The entire clusterf#ck at eiu has NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to do with anything in Ames, IA.

"SHINY OBJECT OVER HERE,......NO,,,HERE!!!!!"

Stupid effort at equivocation. Don't try again.

If you don't think problems like this don't exist everywhere you're living with your head in the sand. And no I'm not talking about hawkeye/cyclone football teams. I mean everywhere. The OP said it was a state level issue and I agree.

The hok football program, the way it has been run for at least the last 21 years, is forever tainted. It has been exposed to the brutal light of day for all to see. What it will be like, for better or for worse, remains to be seen.

So you don't think that any recruits from other areas of the country are going to look at what's happening at Iowa and applying that to the whole state? Not saying it's true, but public perception isn't always based in reality. Kirk's racist staff is a bad look for the entire state. We all have an interest in making sure action is taken there.

For all of the people who were criticizing Iowa’s choice of Husch Blackwell the other day...has this been discussed yet? Whoops.

“The Iowa State Daily reported in 2018that ISU paid Husch Blackwell $120,325 to provide legal help on three cases in 2017 and 2018. Two cases involved women who accused ISU of violating Title IX, the federal gender equity law, in their response to reported sexual assaults on or near campus.

In the third lawsuit, ISU’s former Title IX coordinator Robinette Kelley alleged Iowa State didn’t give her the proper authority and funding to investigate sex discrimination and sexual misconduct, the Daily reported. Kelley also said she was treated differently because she is a woman of color.

Kelley and ISU settled two related lawsuits for $125,000 in 2018, the ISU Daily reported.

This maps out most of the allegations. You can scroll down to Kirk and see what was said specifically about him.
He is mentioned the seconded highest behind Doyle. Granted what was said about him isn't on the same level as the Doyle comments. However, my point still stands. Just because players don't mention you in their allegations (of which the primary of them are directed at Doyle), that does NOT mean the players support you, actively support you, let alone feel like you didn't know these things were going on under your watch. Thanks for linking the website

Hush Blackwell doesn't have any Iowa State alums on staff so no conflict of interest there. Also ISU's contracts with Hush Blackwell were for legal help regarding Title IX, not for a high-profile civil rights, racial bias, bullying investigation. Nice try, it's cool that you read the ISU Daily though.

What's your point? There aren't 10 ISU alum on staff. Not even close to the same thing. Swing and miss

Did he lie or how much did he actually know? I'm honestly curious because I think you are taking the path that Kirk Ferentz is guilty until proven innocent. I don't know why the players are so willing to forgive and move forward if he was deeply involved in all of this.
JFC, that is what's wrong with you Hawk fans. You want to believe SO BADLY that KF had no idea any of this was going on so that your view of your golden child stays untainted. Head coaches are the biggest control freaks on the planet. They know every single thing that is going on in there program and with their players. If you wanna sit there with your head up your you know what and act like KF didn't know anything, then by all means go on. But you're absolutely wrong and everyone else who isn't a hawk fans knows this

This was the worst attempt at trying to prove a point that I’ve seen yet.

Husch Blackwell actually does have Iowa State alumni on its staff, so obviously there was a conflict of interest. And the article says that one of the accusers claimed that she was discriminated against because of her race, so Iowa State hired an all-white firm to investigate a claim of racial discrimination. I guess when Iowa does these things its bad, but when Iowa State does these things it’s “nothing to see here.” Funny how that works.

Doubled down on a fail? Whoops

Why would Iowa State hire a firm that isn’t even in the top five or six firms in the Midwest?

No conflict of interest they can hire one in the 20s for all I care. You said the reason Iowa hired a firm with a major conflict of interest was because they were one of the best in the Midwest which ended up being false. Iowa picked them because they knew nothing would come out of the investigation

We have been over this, you weren’t paying attention. Those rankings are subjective and meaningless. You clutching onto that is embarrassing. I have worked in the legal industry for over 25 years and I can honestly tell you that those rankings are crap.

I worked with and for law firms that wouldn’t be on those lists, but the attorneys are and we’re nationally recognized.

Trying to explain things to you like playing checkers with a pigeon. Craps all over the board and struts around like you own the place...
