I think we should have a separate thread for the big trouble in little Stillwater.
OAN is involved so straight to the CaveThere was a thread - it either got deleted or moved to the Cave since I can no longer see it.
It's not that simple. Doyle would've came back after Iowa and sued them for wrongful termination. It would've gone to court. It would've gotten ugly. Doyle would've thrown blame onto Barta, Kirk, Brian, and others. Iowa could've ended up paying him A LOT more and their name would be even more tarnished. Also, it could've brought forth even MORE information than what the independent investigators may find.
Someone expanded on that and said even though his contract was going to expire on July 1, his contract had to be voided by April 1, so they couldn't have voided it.They could have just let his contract expire and parted ways. He'd have no grounds to sue then.

From Iowa's perspective, this was the best way to avoid a lot of legal trouble, save money, and avoid further information coming to the surface that could put other people's careers in jeopardy.
So how did they come up with the 1.1 million dollar number then? You still are not completely getting it. They had to void his 2021-2022 contract by April 1 of 2020 so 15 months in advance of that FY beginning.

That all makes sense, so it made more sense for Iowa to cut their losses, pay him in full, and kick him out the door. They also made it clear Doyle can not come back and sue the University. Iowa did a good job of covering all the bases honestly. My guess is he got 15 months of pay and benefits for the settlement. The benefits is clearly spelled out at 15 months and the pay is real close using his salary of $896,000. That base pay over 15 months is $1,120,000.00.
His contract requires that he gets a 15 month notice if it is going to be voided, as explained by Iowa having to void his contract by 4/1/20 for the fiscal year that begins on 7/1/21.
I heard Doyle's spectacular career performance triggered his "Great guy definitely not a racist" clause in his contract. So how did they come up with the 1.1 million dollar number then?
FWIW it says interim director. Suppose that's SOP in a time like this?
