Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

Admittedly I've been looking forward to Kirk's retirement and the thought of Brian being ushered in to replace him.
Obviously I had no idea it could end like this and now Brian taking over looks much less likely.

Either way, Iowa fans have struck gold with Hayden and Kirk. This just doesn't happen for many (any?) programs.
They have no idea what it means to go through a coaching change.

You don't have to look very far to see better programs than Iowa that have struggled with coaching changes: Nebraska, Texas, Michigan, Alabama (pre-Saban), USC, etc, etc

Yes. To say that KF shouldn't (or won't) be fired because the season is only three months away is a total slap in the face of those guys coming forward. It is saying of we care but not that much to jeopardize the season. It is still insulting for anyone to think KF should be allowed to right the ship and he can somehow now change the culture. He shouldn't be allowed to even try.

I can level with Iowa fans that want to look on the bright side of things and think of best case scenarios if their staff is rooted or if a lot of guys are terminated / resign. Thinking this thing could spiral Iowa into a depression for football would be very hard for fans that have had their program be very consistent for years.

The very guys coming forward are overwhelmingly saying KF can fix it and are not calling for him to be replaced.

You actually think its insulting for the players that are making the claims to think that KF can right the ship?

I still have yet to wrap my head around the logic of allowing the person who created the terrible culture the opportunity to fix the culture.

Again, if there are legality issues here involving the culture (which there are now), it doesn't matter the opinions of those former players. It will be out of their hands.

So you only believe them when they say there was racist injustice in the Iowa football program but dont believe they know enough about KF to say he can fix it?

Understood.

I get that you want to watch Iowa football burn but that is quite the double standard you got going on there.
 
All that will happen today is that KF will announce updates to the new changes he is implementing and progress with the racial equity team or whatever it is they are calling it. Thats the whole reason he is bringing players. There will be no announcement of firings today. GUARANTEED. If that were the case, Barta would lead the conference. When asked, KF will say he's letting the investigation do it's due process. There, I saved you 2 hours of your time this afternoon.

That's certainly not what I said. I believe that they think Kirk isn't to blame as much in this situation because Doyle, Brian, and others carried out most of the disgusting actions. They don't view Kirk as being at fault. I can definitely understand their side in thinking Kirk deserves the opportunity to right the ship.

What I said was, because this is turning into a legality issue, these players opinions are not going to hold much weight.
 
No way Kirk gets fired and Barta doesn't go with him.

IF Harreld or the Regents decide Kirk has to go, then Barta is absolutely going too.
