He says he is mixed race but is white presenting which means he looks and acts like a white guy. This would give him preferential treatment in the Hawkeye football program. Done. End of discussion.
I think the tweets can be seen however you want to see them. For me, after seeing and hearing the perspectives from dozens of other former Hawkeyes, as well as reading DJK's statement last night, it seems as if DJK badly still wanted to be welcomed as part of the team and Ferentz did not allow that to happen. You can't dismiss any of what DJK said because he showed support for Doyle and Ferentz. I can guarantee you you could go back and find positive tweets towards the program and KF by all of these individuals coming out.
Yeah DJK apparently was welcomed back by former teammates (per a former teammates tweet), however was not allowed to come back.
I can’t believe after 10 years Kirk couldn’t be an adult with a player he had issues with. Really ridiculous especially with how much that player gave to them.
With all of these accounts, and what was brought to light by DJK, I think it would've been EXTREMELY difficult to show any sort of support that went against any of the coach's wishes. KF was threatening his player's futures. I know you're probably not blaming those guys for not speaking up, but I just can't see how that was a viable option at the time. That's why the discussion right now is so important.
