That’s funny because just yesterday KF just said he can’t recall any players or parents EVER talking to him about racial issues over his entire 21 year career.

I thought so. Urban is a slime ball, but that situation right there shows that you are partially responsible for the actions of your assistants, and when you are aware of the negative actions / behavior and do nothing about it, the person in charge is even more responsible.

And in several instances turned their BS around on the player.

Initially, I dont really see a social media ban as racist but if they are picking and choosing what kids get to say on an individual basis, that could get really messy. I wouldn't agree with a blanket ban but I can get the logic behind it. The no hats, earrings etc...would probably not seem terrible on its own either but when you start piling all of this together, it all seems really authoritarian. It's really easy to see how players felt like they were forced to conform, especially players who came from places that are much different culturally than IC.

At some point, you have to start to think that even if KF sticks around, the major changes to the program might be too much for him to maintain success. A total rebuild of the program culture is obviously needed. I'd be leery the guy who helped create that culture can be the one who can change that culture.

Something definitely changed at some point during KF's tenure. Maybe it was the Everson/Satterfield rape case along with the City Boyz incident back in 2007.

None of the guys coming out with negative comments played early in KF's tenure. All of them are guys that came into the program at or after the midway point of his career at Iowa.

And that justifies Kirk's inability to hold his coaches accountable for their actions and behaviors as well as have a lot of rules that are in place that discriminate towards his African American players?

I could see this playing out like that situation (Urban “retiring” after that year for a ceremonial AD job), but Iowa doesn’t have their HCIW like OSU did anymore because hiring BF would be a disaster so this is going to drag and drag and drag and be a lot tougher.

I thought coaching staff was limited to 15-20 hours per week that they can be with the team. I always thought the S&C staff had way more contact with players than the actual coaches did.

No, coaches can not be in there coaching. But coaches can be in there working out on their own.

They can also be in there to help team morale I believe. You see it a lot where coaches will walk in and cheer guys on, talk with some guys on the side, etc.

Oh yeah I don't see anything happening with Kirk and Brian coming any time soon unless something even more drastic comes out. This does seem to be the beginning of the end for both Kirk and Brian at Iowa though.

Could not have said it better myself. Lol. Coaches know what time each player gets to class, where they're sitting in class, how many questions they may or may not have asked, etc. So people think coaches don't know about instances that happen within the walls of the football facilities? GTFOH
