Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

Shocking none of them apologized to me
Apology is often seen as an admission of guilt. For most powerful people, an apology is not the "go to" response. The apology will come when they think they have no other "out." It will be interesting to see how all of this plays over the next few days.

I think Doyle’s joke of a “statement” followed almost immediately by KF saying it isn’t a thing + “internal investigation” = yet another situation where Iowa lets KF and his team get away with some pretty awful ****. He should never have been retained after the rape scandal, but here we are.

No school should allow this. None.

I agree entirely, except I think Doyle is gone. Way too many accusations that were quite specific in nature. I think Doyle's statement was a shot across the bow, a warning that he will not be dismissed without a fight (read: $$$).

This... I was about to post how pissed I am about how the administration and fans are turning a blind eye - or worse - applauding Emperor Kirk. I guess I shouldn't be surprised - he has been building his culture over the last 20 years. He won't let a little thing like racism tear it down.
College football fans are filled with delusion. we have seen it with LSU firing Les Miles after a 10 win season. We have seen it with ISU fans thinking we'd go bowling prior to the 2014 season. We have seen it with any fan base.

To think that Hok fans would be outraged by a well spoken statement is beyond wishful thinking. They will applaud Kirk with whatever he does, he can do no wrong to them even though he has been letting this problem persist for years.

You think the comments are ugly now, what would they look like if KF got fired? All fan bases have their uglies and their idiots. Hoks just have a disproportionate amount.

I am just worried about throwing stones when this is likely a problem that transcends locker rooms. I don't think I could tell anyone with a straight face that nobody in the last 10 years of Iowa State Football has ever been guilty of things like this. I would hope that CMC's lockerroom does not have this issue, but can we guarantee that for Paul, Mac, etc.? Seems unlikely.

In a previous post I mentioned a ISU assistant coach making off color comments to us players. The difference here was that we as a Team went to coach Mac and that assistant was gone. Mac didn't tolerate that crap!!!

What is inappropriate about that? I read that as he is asking the players who have been affected if they still feel he deserves to coach there. Maybe I am reading it wrong.

Someone not named Kirk should be doing this. The football staff needs to be barred from contacting players

I don't know how many players would say to his face that they don't want him, especially if they think those comments could hurt them in the future if he stays.

It's not and shouldn't be their decision, reeks of desperation. You have a boss for a reason and it is their decision.

Because you're asking an impossibly difficult question of people who owe you their careers, for starters. Who says anyone would answer honestly in that situation?

And second, when Kirk is the one reporting on these conversations to the media, and his career is on the line, there's an incentive to mischaracterize them, or even outright lie. No reporter should pass that along in a story without some follow up.

Thanks for the info Curt!

And that's half the battle- you guys must have felt that the door was open to have that conversation with Mac.

From some of these statements it seems clear that is not the case with Ferentz. So even if its true that Ferentz never heard about these situations, that is still, ultimately, on him for not making that option available.

Yeah that makes sense, it maybe shows a level of thoughfullness from him, but you're right, that decision needs to be made my the admin or the independent investigation.

Good to see the crisis management skills haven't gotten any better over at Ft. Kinnick. Man those people really do live in a bubble. Good luck recruiting going forward.

Yes exactly. We knew Mac would listen to us and take our concerns to heart because we knew he genuinely cared about each and everyone of us (black, white, latino, walkon, or All American).
