Iowa Football Recruiting

OK. Flip the script to football and you should understand why a Hawkeye fan might feel the same way towards Cyclone fans regarding football talent. You just exemplified what makes fans of one team hate another teams fans. Congratulations.
That's not the same lol. Pre Campbell, I might agree. But the difference is CMC has picked up great a few great transfers (had a few stinkers also, but everyone does) and Campbell has put people in the league. Heck one is the starting RB for the Chicago bears. So yea, you are trying to compare apples and oranges

I also should have put a bet on how fast it took before a hawk fan tried to make this claim.

Well, then using that argument you no longer have a leg to stand on with Prohm.
How? You're saying putting Wiggington, THT, Shakyok, and soon to be lottery pick Haliburton in the league doesn't count? You're saying landing Shayok was a bad transfer? Yikes man. Just yikes...

I love that this thread has moved to talking about basketball and basketball recruiting because it is absolutely comical to watch Hawks act like they know what they're talking about. They have ONE decent season in 10+ years and now all the sudden they are the know it alls of transfer recruiting, HS recruiting, and college basketball in general. All this while mind you their current coach hasn't land one good transfer ever and has a total of TWO players drafted into the NBA and neither of them have NBA contracts. But yea....Hawk fans know basketball talent when they see it....

One decent season for ISU football in 10+ years and ISU fans have a 40,000+ thread obsessing about Iowa football recruiting isn't a good look. Pretty ironic you post this in that thread.

Wigginton left, not because Prohm was developing him, but because he was wrecking him.

Always being right is quite the shtick

Hall and Goodson have both only played one season, and both put up similar numbers. I’ll take the one who has proven his abilities against good defenses over the one who hasn’t.
Okay so after doing some research about SP+ Top-40 defenses as they pertain to both ISU and Iowa, both Iowa State and Iowa played 6 SP+ Top-40 defenses.

Iowa: Iowa State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota and USC

Iowa State: Iowa, Baylor, OU, Oklahoma State, Texas, Notre Dame

Goodson
Iowa State - 3 carries, 16 yds
Michigan - 6 carries, 15 yds
Penn State - 8 carries, 35 yds
Wisconsin - 5 carries, 26 yds
Minnesota - 13 carries, 94 yds, 1 TD
USC - 18 carries, 48 yds, 1 TD

ypc: 4.42

Hall
Iowa - 1 carry, 0 yds
Baylor - DNP
OU - 18 carries, 110 yards
Oklahoma State - 18 carries, 76 yds, 2 TD
Texas - 24 carries, 101 yds
Notre Dame - 17 carries, 55 yds

ypc: 4.38

So, assuming these numbers are correct, and I'll post my reference link, you're saying that because Goodson averaged .04 more yards per carry than Hall against better defenses, he's therefore overall better? From my standpoint looking at these numbers, Goodson is a specialty back who's used in certain situations but can't be relied upon to carry the ball very much. The best running back on Iowa is rarely getting the ball against good teams.. Could be a variety of reasons for that but that's just the truth.

Good research, I love it!

I think Iowa fans point out that Goodson and Hall were pretty similar except that Hall got much more playing time. As you point out the YPC are close, and the year YPC are exactly the same.

You gotta understand that when Twins trolls something so hard that is where Iowa fans are going to push back. So when Twins constantly calls Goodson garbage, Iowa fans are gonna defend him, and point out he was similar to Hall in YPC with just less carries.

1 decent season? I guess the other 8-5 season wasn't decent enough for you huh. But I love how you think that an Iowa football recruiting thread, on an Iowa state fan page mind you, was started by Iowa State fans. Really shows how clueless you are. Remind me again, who is the individual on their rivals fan page commenting on multiple threads throughout the day again?

I absolutely do not think Goodson is garbage. He's good I just don't think he's better than Hall and neither would most non-biased people who would watch the film and look at the numbers. They would see that Hall has more carries but also probably understand there's a reason for that. Hall is more of a work horse. He's 6'1 210 lbs, while Goodson is 5'10 190 lbs. I'm not equating size to ability, but Hall is going to be able to take more of a beating than Goodson, even if Goodson has a vastly superior offensive line. They're different types of backs and do different things.

Dont think so. He is like a 99% lock for Wisconsin and has been for quite some time. Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he’s told Wisconsin a long time ago.

Just stop -__-
You're going to be really happy when you find out how wrong you are on Wisconsin. I mean, it could happen, but everything I've been told is that he is Campbell's to lose. You're more pessimistic than my wife was on our wedding day.

Who's KOK? Is that the supposed quarterbacks coach? The same one that Nate Stanley said never worked on mechanics with him before?

You might have heard him refereed to as the GOAT, but yes, the QB Coach that has place yet another gunslinger into the NFL. Guy is a stud.

How were they in any way similar?

LOL, ok ISU has had "2 decent seasons" in the last 19 years and 3 over the last 41 years. Does averaging less than 1 decent season per every 10 years over the last 40 years quality ISU fans to talk about football then?
