Iowa Football Recruiting

True. I'm thinking Rutgers might have a worse history. Although....the first college game ever played was at Rutgers. So they got that going for them.
Oh just because the first was played there shouldn't factor into it I think. I'm assuming they have a really good history for a B1G invite. I mean, I dont think adding them was for financial reasons or anything silly like that.

Oh, definitely financial reasons were involved there. Also, am I correct in saying Rutgers beat Iowa State in a bowl game?

You think it was for financial reasons? Hmm, I'm not so sure about that.
Rutgers sure did beat ISU but ISU has beaten Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, etc since then and I'm not sure we're better than them.

Financial reasons were definitely involved.....they help bring-in the NY/NJ market. Ok, I'm now tipping the scale a little bit in Rutgers favor over Iowa State - with regards to football history. That was a big bowl win for them.

FYI, there are really cool ways to calculate a max from lower reps.

https://www.muscleandstrength.com/tools/bench-press-calculator

This one says 344, which is bigtime gainz.
I know, but thanks for the info regardless. I'd like to add that that calculation is not always exact or correct. 1 rep max is pretty much dead in athletics due to the high risk of injury not to mention it is more important to have functional strength rather than pure strength. The difference being functional strength would be being having endurance to consistent lifting a semi-heavy to heavy weight. This is why bench is so important for linemen. It shows endurance. Pure strength would be how much weight can you lift once. This really only matters if you are trying to be the strongest man alive. Not sure why @Brodie0 disagreed with my statement. It's literally a fact. Someone who can lift 350lbs 1 time is stronger than someone who can lift 275-5 times. That's just a fact. You can do the conversion, but it comes down to can the dude put the weight on the bar and lift it. Simple as that

I don’t know what Alabama was doing with Purdy - hosting someone on an official visit and then refusing to tell them whether you would accept their commitment is pretty telling. Something about the visit clearly didn’t sit well with Saban.

As for Nixon, Alabama offered him sight unseen after watching his highlight video - takes a pretty rare and exceptional talent to warrant that treatment.

MVC Champs, post

Can someone bump to CyTwins that 32 HOF coaches have lower than 60% winning percentage. No doubt an exception would be made for Ferentz....but obviously clone fans would vote against it, if given the chance. Luckily Georges Niang would not be on the committee making that decision

@CyTwins, MVC wants you to know that Georges wouldn't be on a college football committee. (I made it so you could see what he posted)

Wait, we get to vote for the college hall of fame?? Did not know that.

Yes. Just place your vote right here on whether Kirk Ferentz should be in the College Football HOF. The only requirement is that you put your jealousy and hatred for University of Iowa to the side. I have no doubt you will make the right call.

Really excited about Petras. Not sure if you knew this (maybe I'm bringing some good intel to the board), but he went to same high school as Jared Goff and ended up breaking many of his HS passing records. Just some insane stats. I also believe he had offers from Michigan and Louisville, but really could care less....Iowa swooped in and got him. If he can win as many games as Stanley, I will be happy.
You're new here but I will fill you in, according to your hawk brethren an offer from Louisville is absolute garbage unless it has something to do with a Hawk player or recruit. So you nailed the use of that one, good work.
Lastly, the offer from Michigan at QB made me literally laugh out loud because they have had GARBAGE qb's under Jim. So not a lot of subsistence behind that one, IMO

No one literally tests players’ 1RM. Everyone knows how that process works. Claiming that Epenesa was stronger in HS because his 1RM (which was almost certainly calculated using a 1RM conversion) was 315 is beyond idiotic when said player can now rep 225 pounds 17 times, and the same 1RM conversion that was used to calculate his 1RM in HS spits out a number much higher than 315.

Thanks for the feedback. I am new here and have no reason to believe you have anything against the Hawkeyes. I will take those opinions into consideration.

Are you sure you removed any jealousy and/or hatred towards Iowa, before making that vote? Why not just sleep on it.
He doesn't meet the winning percentage criteria at this moment. I think Kirk Fertenz is an absolute wonderful coach. Top 10-15 of current P5 coaches honestly. I just don't see them bending the rules unfortunately.

You're definitely entitled to your opinion. I honestly believe they would make an exception. I think they would look at his overall winning percentage at Iowa (which is 61%).
