Iowa Football Recruiting

Really excited about Petras. Not sure if you knew this (maybe I'm bringing some good intel to the board), but he went to same high school as Jared Goff and ended up breaking many of his HS passing records. Just some insane stats. I also believe he had offers from Michigan and Louisville, but really could care less....Iowa swooped in and got him. If he can win as many games as Stanley, I will be happy.

So you do care nobody wanted him? Got it

Also yeah Iowa fans don't want Stanley back

Wait, what? He had offers from Michigan, Louisville and Oregon State to name a few. That said, similar to ISU's recruiting class this year, I don't get caught-up in who doesn't offer players that Iowa offers. I trust our coaches, just like you should trust Campbell. Pretty simple to understand.

Yes a QB with a Michigan offer chose Oregon State instead. Lol no wonder you care so much

You're probably right. That sounds about as (but not quite as) ridiculous as a QB choosing ISU over Alabama...but the kid is from the West Coast. Let me see what I can dig up on his recruitment.

Alabama offered Purdy. Michigan didn't offer the Oregon State kid. Pretty big difference

No. Nebraska was though

Interesting. You just said last week that a Top 50 defense is a good defense. Nebraska was Top 50 overall in Sagarin, so by your own standards, it would appear that Nebraska was actually good last year.

You use Sagarin to judge teams? Good to know

I was actually just responding to your assertion that it was laughable for a recruit to choose Oregon State over Michigan and I was somewhat agreeing with you. That's similar (in my mind) to saying that a recruit would actually choose ISU over Alabama...keeping in mind the offer from Alabama wasn't as a preferred walk-on. But the more I looked into it - Oregon State's football history isn't nearly as devoid of significance as ISU's football history. I didn't realize they beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl (41-9) in 2000. Wasn't that the score of the ISU vs Notre Dame bowl game this past year.....only ND was obviously on the winning side of that game. LOL!

Long story short, I don't think it's as crazy as you might think for a recruit to choose Oregon State over Michigan.....especially if you do believe a recruit chose the Clones over Alabama. Anyway, I'm sure this will lead to some good discussion tomorrow comparing Oregon State's overall football success to ISU's overall football success. Have a good night!
