All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

I’ll go with 5 for ISU.

Sean Shaw- big WR target that came on during the later part of the year. I think he will have a solid year.

Joey Ramos- likely to be the LT, was a fairly high-touted recruit. Think he has the tools to be really good.

Will McDonald- if he’s able to hold his ground against the run (put on some weight), he’s going to be a FREAK. Really good athlete.

Jake Hummel- has played a lot, but I think he steps in for Marcel Spears (who is a huge loss). Jake is athletic and intelligent, but won’t be the flashiest player.

Isheem Young- I think he starts in the third safety spot if he has picked up on the scheme. Was debating between him, Miller, or Azunna (who I think battle it out for the third spot).

I agree with your 1 thru 3 and will add Downing and Hutchinson.
I think Downing is probably doing some work on the farm to stay in really good shape.
Hutchinson could be a really special receiver.

Not sure. We're not going to play 11 P5 teams and Barta won't let us out of the series so it's a moot point
hmmm. interesting that you don't know that. You know everything else. I'm sure you know when Iowa has scheduled other P5 games outside of ISU.

Iowa State isn't going to play 11 P5 teams so what's your point. If we were able to get out of the series we'd have many options. AD‘s would want to face CMC and Iowa State because a win carries a lot of weight. This isn't your father's Cyclones

Who are 5 players for each team that not many people know of that will be significant in 2020 and why?
For ISU I'd go with:
1. Xavier Hutchinson (WR) - was a big time JC recruit who had some great offers, runs extremely crisp routes, and is VERY fast

2. Derek Schweigher (OL) - he was the back up center for quite some time and he really held his own in times he has played. I've been hearing that they are thinking of keeping schweigher as the starting center and moving Newell to a guard spot. Could be interesting IF it happens

3. Isaiah Lee (DT- nose) - He played extremely well for a redshirt freshmen last year and the staff is extremely high on him. They compared him to having the motor of Jamal Johnson with the run stopping of Lima. This really hinges though on if the staff stays with the 3-3-5 or goes to a 4-2-5

4. Isheem Young (S) - This guy is an absolute stud and had some good offers on the table before he picked ISU. He is fast and great in coverage. Very similar player, IMO, to Greg Eisworth

5. Aric Horne (LB) - This is more a hunch as I've heard from people around the program that the staff is REALLY happy with how he developed last year. He apparently covers extremely well in space which is needed in the Big12. I could see him rotating in here or there

Interesting. I'm assuming then that JP hasn't scheduled a P5 game other than Iowa in his entire tenure at ISU.

Good list and thoughts there.

I’ve heard similar things on Schweiger, but I actually think that Newell would slide to RT. Hearing Hudson could be tough to keep off of the field.

Basically where Newell plays could come down to a competition between who is better between Schweiger at C, Hudson at guard, or the RT candidates.

Aric Horne is a good name to bring up. Hopefully he can make some noise.

Why would he schedule 11 P5 teams? We had a home and home in the works with an SEC team once we got CMC but Barta vetoed that. Pre-CMC it probably would have been harder to get another P5 program though

They're thinking of changing from the 3-3-5?
