Iowa Football Recruiting

RB room I agree with for now (though Jirehl Brock is going to be really good).

WR room I also agree. It is full of mostly unproven, but talented players.

Totally disagree on the TE room. Allen and Soehner most definitely are better than “average” players.

Yeah, I would not say at all that Scates or Akers are "proven". Shaw is close, but that's debatable. RB, Hall is a proven player and a good one. Also, Lang has shown he can be a decent back. Brock has a lot of hype, but not much experience. The staff raves about him and they're not really much for blowing smoke, so I'm guessing he's going to be pretty good.

TE is a different matter. That's an excellent room...one of the top 10 rooms in the country.

I think Purdy is a great QB and one almost any school would be happy to have. When I say this I mean I don’t think Ohio State or Clemson would trade for Purdy. If I were an isu fan I would be worried about his health. No matter how good a QB is if he doesn’t have great protection it is a matter of time until they get dinged up. Just my opinion but I view isu’s record last year as a direct result of Purdy not being 100% for the season.
yet Alabama came knocking late for Purdy...

But Scates is not "proven" correct?
yet your proven transfer Martin only had 3 yrds more receiving last year... Scates has the ability if he is on the field but he has been behind some good college receivers so far. and I will take Sean Shaw Jr as another tall receiver to emerge as a beast this year too.

Don't Iowa fans like to go by "stars"? I mean they're always pointing to the stars their recruits have, and ours don't have.

Well... here's Joe Scates......

So now you can all let me know how "stars" don't mean anything.

He also held an offer from Alabama too... according to 247.

They went by offers but then our recruits started getting more and one of their guys with a bunch decommitted

That Iowa decommit didn’t even impact Iowa’s position in the national rankings. They stayed the same. Minnesota moved ahead of Iowa by getting another commitment.

Which of Iowa’s current recruits will flip to isu or is it more important to clone fans that they just don’t end up in Iowa City? Nothing little brotherish about that.

Hawk fans also go by National and position rankings for each recruit. How well does isu’s class stack up that way? It’s ok you can tell us.

So you're admitting that Scates is a stud, right?

If you think Iowa's class is so awesome.... based only on stars, offers, etc.... then Scates is awesome too, right?

Here is what I think. Scates had grade issues and schools didn’t want to wait to see if he was going to be eligible so they moved on to others. To isu’s credit they stuck with the kid and really had nothing to lose by doing so. None of Iowa’s kids appear to be in that same boat.

So Scates is a stud WR then, correct? You're like a politician.... just answer the question.

I do hope that we see Milton move back to the M so we can get more of Scates on the field this year. The staff must have seen something special from him in practices because his target rate on plays he was in the game was massive.

Saban is not a fan of CMC let's put it that way. Scates and Purdy did him dirty

How different are the academics at isu when even Bama backed off Scates?

Wait are isu fans really saying Saban is afraid of isu? That is the kind of delusion I come here for.

No one has said anything negative about Scates. You claimed he was a proven weapon, but he hasn’t proven anything.

just wait until we snag Bollers who Alabama is also in pursuit of. I wouldn’t say he’s scared, but he definitely doesn’t take us lightly.
