Iowa Football Recruiting

I'm confused. I'm not sure what Nebraska has but of his final list Iowa's TE room is probably the weakest. Their "star TE" was a MAC level recruit

Funny how all of a sudden offers for Iowa’s incoming freshmen TE’s don’t count. I am glad you finally admit Purdy’s offers are also meaningless.

Assumed we moved on when we made the final two with Noel. Thanks for the info

Is basketball recruiting bleeding over to football recruiting for isu? I love the new strategy of passing on higher ranked recruits in favor of lower ranked ones.

Please demand that your coaches stick to this new recruiting tactic.

Petras was behind a 7th round draft pick. Purdy was behind a career backup, and a FCS QB. It is apples and oranges.

Kempt was better than Stanley. Purdy didn't get to campus until June and they already knew he wasn't going to redshirt.

There's a reason we beat out Bama for him and you guys beat out Oregon State got Petras

Sounds like Keagan Johnson and still possibly Skyler Bell at WR this month.

One of Joe Alt or Myslinki to finish off at OL. Alt wants to take more visits. Not sure if there will be a spot for him if Myslinki jumps on board.

Going after Austin Booker and Jeremiah Pittman on the DL. Would like to get 1 of these guys

Fidone is a coin toss Between Iowa and Nebraska right now.

Things looking decent with Ricky Parks at RB.

Class is going to be insane!

Fidone ain't happening. He's a lifelong Husker fan, has family close to there, and knows that he'll be THE guy at TE in Lincoln. His path to the field in I.C. is much tougher than at Nebby. LaPorta, Miamen, Yelverton, Lachey... that's elite young talent at TE.

Kempt was bad.

Gotcha. That has to be disappointing he was a bust. You truly don't know what you're getting with a kid until they get on campus
Reminds me of Joseph Scates. Clone fans were sure he was going to be the second coming and he ends up being most known for a BB gun arrest.

Go get more of these recruits.

Didn't the Denver Broncos just draft another TE with an early round pick this year? Guess they are looking for one that can block and catch the ball.

I meant to say he essentially only played six games, but forgot to put that qualifier in. That’s my fault. He didn’t play that much the first half of the season because he was still learning the playbook, so he was used solely as a blocking TE. Iowa didn’t use that position much last year because they had good wide receivers - that doesn’t mean LaPorta wasn’t an effective blocker when he did play. As he gained familiarity with the playbook, he began to see his role in the offense expand. Not uncommon for a true freshman (one need look no further than his fellow true freshman teammate, Tyler Goodson). By the end of the season, he had a good enough season that he would have easily made HM All-Big XII as a TE. Not that difficult to understand.
Laporte is probably better than Allen but to say that Laporta was a good blocking TE is just flat out wrong.

Maybe run around campus with the fellas with some BB guns before you bash it.
