Iowa Football Recruiting

I went from having zero chance to at least a punchers chance now. Fidone is close with a lot of Iowa commits and Iowa is a TE factory. But that allegiance to Big Red will be tough to sway.
Everyday he doesn't commit to Nebraska is a good thing for Iowa. Still going to be a hard sell.

Iowa has had a lot of 2* diamonds in the rough. Campbell appears to be identifying some as well but I guess no other schools can do it...

Um, do you realize what thread this is? It is dedicated to Hawkeye recruiting.

LOL on comparing the two classes. One is filled with kids that other P5 schools wanted, another isn't. One has a average player rating of .82, the other above .88. If you take last years ratings that is the difference between a top 25 (the lowest class with a .88 rating) class and the #69 class (the highest rated class with below .83 average rating.

There is a HUGE difference in recruiting classes right now, even if ISU fans don't get it.
I too would pretend not to understand what is going on if my team was getting absolutely obliterated on the recruiting trail.

Iowa fans understand 2* recruits, Ferentz has been more successful with them than CMC will ever be.

are you going to be like those other dbags that come around and try to act cool in front of loser hok fans?

No. You're either really really dumb or trying to do a really bad Twins impersonation.

Purdy is a day 2 pick in the draft next year. If he starts to win big games consistently he could go round 1. Right now in College Football he is a top 10 QB.

Oh god are we doing the whole "winning matters to NFL scouts" things again?

Careful Brandon, you're getting obsessed.

For real though, all coaches find "diamonds in the rough". Some are better at it than others. I fully expect Campbell to be good at it and I'm sure some of these guys will be. I have not even looked at the guys in your class so I won't offer an opinion on them. I can tell you with 100% certainty than Iowa boards would be in meltdown mode right now if most of the class was currently looking like diamonds, right or wrong. You want some of them for sure, but you don't want the whole class to be them. When it's 100% guys people are calling "diamonds in the rough", we call that a McCaffery class. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't.

Do you and legend share tweezers?

Hawks are on track to have one of their best classes ever. That's a big achievement and just because many don't like Iowa, this shouldn't be downplayed like many are doing. ISU's recruiting has steadily increased since CMC has been here, but it will take winning against Iowa and a 9+ win season before we start to land more of the high profile recruits within the state of Iowa. Putting guys in the NFL and a long term consistent program doesn't happen over night - ISU is improving but it is clear there is still much to improve on.

David Montgomery, Hakeem Butler, Brian Peavy, Mike Rose (at time of commitment), Datrone Young, Willie Harvey, shall I go on?

Willie was a rhoads kid if I remember correctly, but you can add vance, Jamal johnson, hummel

This won’t be Iowa’s highest rated class.
