Iowa Football Recruiting

Yeah Iowa would have been a much better team last year with Purdy instead of Stanley

Purdy wasn't very good in the clutch, so I'm assuming close wins over ISU, Nebraska, and Minnesota would have all become losses. Iowa would have been 7-6 with Purdy, but his yardage number would have been higher than Stanley.

Except TCU literally destroyed Purdue last season.

So a bad team beat a bad team, shocking! I mean if Purdue beat TCU, then they would have been the bad 5 win team and TCU the bad 4 win team. Instead TCU showed their dominance and was the bad 5 win team.

It's a trade off. Stronger arm vs quicker feet. Like I said, Purdy probably would have bailed us out of 1 of our losses with his legs. Purdy could do some work with the talent upgrade around him. If he wanted to transfer, I'd take him. You won 7 with him last year. Can you imagine your season without him? Yikes. You'd have lost to UNI, Kansas, and Texas for sure. 4-8 ?

I could have played QB for Iowa and beat Nebraska. Stanley was 11-24 got 99 yards and an interception that game. Purdy has never had a game in his career even close to that bad and Nebraska is awful

So you'd rather have a stronger arm even if it's a way worse arm? That's odd

Nice try Troll. Purdy probably would've been 1st team all conference playing against that pathetic conference schedule and you know it.

I'm not sure what confused you, a Nebraska fan could probably have followed along....

What freshman for ISU (other than Bollers which we established) do you think make in impact for ISU their freshman year?
What a vague a** question. A Nebraska fan could have asked a more direct question without so many open ends.

In his same recruiting class? Freshmen this season? At DE?

Purdy's MO this year was to fail in the clutch vs Iowa, OSU, Baylor, and OU. No way Purdy makes the throws Stanley does in the clutch to get into FG range.

Fail. Iowa played a tougher schedule according to the major if BCS bowl SOS metrics.

I'm sorry you seem to be struggling along on this one. I've quoted the comments from the original discussion I was having about the topic with other posters that you walked in to. Let me know if you have any questions.

who of the commits makes a big impact on the field as true freshmen?

Bump for Iowa fans

Hard to tell which guys we're talking about since you're keeping it really vague by not saying specifically who is going to bolt, but I'd have to say not many of them make a huge impact their freshman season. Unless somehow they get Fidone (pretty certain we don't), I see most of these guys being gunners on special teams or 4 game RS's. Maybe a couple get pushed into early service with an injury or two, but that's a crap shoot. Nice to have some decent depth in some of these positions.

Same questions to you on ISU.

Might not be technically a "current" commit, but Bollers will definitely see the field as a freshman. If he doesn't..... Look Out! ISU most likely has a top 10 defense to let him redshirt.

Good point. Iowa State is in really good shape at DE for years to come, but Bollers is still a guy that would probably play.

Good info. Besides Bollers, what other freshman are you thinking?

Fleck and Minnesota are a much bigger threat to Iowa than CMC and ISU are. CMC hasn't made any headway after 4 years on the recruiting front especially against Iowa, while Fleck is now beginning to kill it.

You had better run to their boards and tell them how little you care about them, then

I think he is saying this season. I think Silas can contribute and is a very underrated recruit. I really like his ability to cut and change direction. Looks like Sproles in his highlights. Will be a very good fit in the ISU offensive scheme.

Purdy wasn't healthy

Against those defenses? might want to look at the comparison of defenses between the 2 schedules and get back to us.
