Gene Chizik Comments Rumor Thread

Jon Miller does not have time to talk about it. He will relive the Penn State game all next week while the getting is good.

mike gundy told his qb zac robinson who told his wide receiver who told the osu trainer who told his barber that gene chizik disliked his job.
that is how i heard this big rumor got started.

And as these things happen (anyone ever play "Telephone"?), somehow a "dis" got stuck in there where it wasn't supposed to be.

if you believe 102,i got some hot desert property in nevada for sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be willing to bet $1 million dollars that Marty and Miller talk about this tomorrow for a good portion of their show, rather than discuss the meltdown in Boulder. I can't say I blame them.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Gene said these things, but I think they were likely said out of frustration and nothing more. I wouldn't hold it against him either way.

When you think about it, he did have the world by the balls at UT. The same can't be said in Ames. It's his job to change that, though.

i never heard someone complain about a job that quadropoled their salary. I really doubt he is regretting the move - unless he thought he could have landed the Clemson job.

If they can fit it in between talking about how awesome the hawkeyes are and how they're probably going to a BCS bowl. Seriously though, Moron will probably spend the first hour ridiculing Miller for betting on Penn State in Vegas. I don't think I'll be able to listen to them at all this week.

True or not, ISU has to be one of the toughest jobs in the country. If anyone caught soundoff last weekend with Murph dressed as 1980's Hayden Fry while he was pretty funny he did hit a point. All McCarney did was beat Iowa and take ISU to bowl games and right now I'd love to just get back to being mediocre again as poor as these last 2 seasons have been. As you all know I was skeptical of the Mac firing, and I don't want to turn this into another one of those threads but I fully support Gene now that he is our coach but we can't sit here and say we aren't disappointed in what we have seen so far because we hired this guy to take us to new levels and right now getting back to the 7-5 seasons and lower tier bowl games sadly is looking tougher than it was before. I was hoping by year 3 of Chizik we'd at least be there, right now I have my doubts that a .500 season is going to be possible next year with how many steps back the program has taken back. I'm hoping this is just some bumps in the road to becoming respectable again but it's been really hard to find positives with this FB team lately.

The really big problem is the upcoming scheduling. If this team can't show strong improvement next year, the next two years after that are going to be VERY tough as Texas, Texas Tech, and OU are back on the schedule.

If we don't see a bowl game next year, we might not see another until 2012 as the non-conference opponents get tougher as well, I believe.

2009 was the season I was looking forward to. The third year for the coach and being able to get a couple of good recruiting classes in. "Looking forward" to that season was kind of predicated on having a decent season this year, with solid improvement. That has not happened.

If were really so far away, why do we have so many games that could have gone either way? If this team makes a few more plays we could have 6 wins instead of two, and everyone would be worried about how we keep GC for the long term.

I feel the same frustration as all Cyclone fans, but the truth is this team is closer to respectability than many fans recognize.

One more point to make is that TU is afraid of losing their DC to a big time school and OSU is recruiting a 4* athlete we are in the hunt for. It makes sense to start these rumours to get the DC thinking as well as the recruit. Welcome to the internet. Damn you Al Gore!

I hate Mike Gundy even more now. I don't care that he's a man...or that he's 40.

I didn't see this posted elsewhere:

Damage control is underway in Ames.
Media at Iowa State football coach Gene Chizik's news conference were just handed the following written statement from Brian Estridge of FM 100.3 in Dallas:
"Friday on our radio show, Galloway and Company, we were having an on-air conversation about (TCU head coach) Gary Patterson possibly heading to Kansas State. We were also talking about Oklahoma State and Texas Tech at the time. I did not have any conversation with Oklahoma State coaches about Gene Chizik. I don't know any Oklahoma State coaches. We were comparing being the defensive coordinator at a place like Texas and being a head coach at Iowa State and the risk and pressure involved in being a head coach. That is how Gene Chizik's name came up. It was not based on any conversation I had with anyone else."
