This is why Prohm must go........

As of today:

North Carolina: 10-17
Iowa State: 11-16

I wonder if UNC is talking about a new coach.......
UNC has three National Titles under Roy Williams (who is a college basketball hall of famer). Iowa State doesn’t have an NCAA tournament win under Steve Prohm’s players after being handed an opportunity, to build off his predecessors success, on a golden platter.

Right. UNC has six total NT's while ISU has none. And anyone could have walked off the street and won a NCAA tourney game with the roster Fred left Steve. Well, cept Fred. UAB says hi.

They have won 3 under Roy.

Imagine thinking these two coaches were comparable in any way shape or form.

Prohm:

197 wins
3 conference tourney
1 conference title
4 NCAA tourney's
1 Sweet 16
2 conference coach of the year (Ohio Valley)

Williams:

881 wins
7 conference Tourney Champs
13 Conference Titles
29 NCAA tourney's
14 Elite 8's
8 Final Fours
3 National Championships
9 conference coach of the year (7 Big 8/12, 2 ACC)

Ignoring the difference in accomplishments of said coaches, UNC has the #3 class in the nation with 4 McD AA's coming in.

IMO there's not enough talent in the incoming class at positions of need to see much improvement in Iowa State's record next year

We're getting off subject here, but this is a really unfair take.

Deonte Burton, Solomon Young, and Donovan Jackson, three important players on the '16-17 team that did, in fact, win a game in the NCAA tournament, never played a minute of college basketball under Fred Hoiberg.

And honestly, it's this kind of crap that makes me defend Prohm, even in a season like this one where the grounds for defense are pretty flimsy.

I get that you hate and despise the man (and please do not insult our intelligence by claiming otherwise, even if he brought you lunch one time. You are on record, on this very board, of wanting him to be fired after last season in which we won 23 games, won the Big 12 tournament, and made it back to the NCAA tournament), but let's not pretend like every single season under him has been a bad one.

I lost faith 3 years ago when it took a full half before Coach recognized Purdue couldn't guard Burton. Not even that fat 1st round bust Swanigan. Can anyone honestly tell me what the identity is of ISU basketball now? Oh, and want to feel bad about how far we have fallen? Watch these highlights:

God Burton was good that game. The dunk to make 62-65 was one of my favorite live dunks I've ever witnessed.

edit

People seem to forget he got MUCH better under Prohm.

Deonte was a mid season transfer under Fred. Jackson was recruited under Fred (Otz was main recruiter) and was still sold by the program because Otz stuck around and committed to Steve.

I’m not sure why you’re putting words in my mouth. You’re convinced I “hate” him because I don’t think he’s right for the job, which is far from the case. I have absolutely no ill will against the guy. Give me a break....

If we can stop with this crap here and now that'd be great. Nobody hates and despises Steve freakin' Prohm, likely one of the nicest coaches to walk the Earth. And I'm with you, I'll defend last season until my dying breath. It was a good year and it drives me crazy that people want to disparage it.

However, it's simply one of the few things that are absolutely not relevant. UNC - not relevant. Last year - Not relevant. THT going pro - not relevant. Why people feel compelled to talk about these things like they matter at all is utterly baffling to me.

I know the last few weeks the games have been meaningless, but to me these beat downs we have been taking just moves the needle further for next year on what Prohm would need to prove to win me back over. I think he's losing more and more goodwill within the fan base with each 20 point drubbing that at some point he may not be able to overcome it.

Again, you are on record, on this very board, as being perfectly okay with him being let go after last season, which by historical ISU standards was a pretty good one.

Based on that, it's very hard for me to think or believe that you were willing to give the guy a fair chance.
