Did he play vs Iowa State?

He’s a true freshman. His first action came against MTSU on 9/28

Iowa didn’t employ the 4-2-5 with the “cash” position due to 4 of their 6 DBs in the 2 deeps being injured prior to the game.

K. Merriweather will be in the mix with Koerner too. He was the pre-season starter before injuries took hold.

Iowa DBs who missed the ISU game:

CB-Riley Moss
CB-Matt Hankins (starter)
CB-Josh Brents (hurt in camp)
FS-Kaevon Merriweather (starter)

I had forgotten how depleted our team was for that ISU game. It was disappointing giving up those 2 big plays, but outside those plays ISU did nothing all game long offensively.

Very good sign such a depleted secondary held a pretty decent offense to 17 points. 14 of which came on blown coverages from the 5th CB on the depth chart that was filling in. Have to wonder what the game might have looked like had the secondary been full strength. Not to even mention the offensive injuries.

Moss was also Hankins backup. DJ Johnson was actually the 3rd LCB behind Brents but ended up being #1 to replace Hankins/Moss at RCB because Brents was injured too. Brents was able to redshirt this season due to the play of the younger DBs.

If the rumors are true the best strength and conditioning coach in the state will reside in Ames, Iowa

LOL, ISU could bring in this guy and you'd claim he is the best S&C coach in the world.
