All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

I wouldn't read into those fan's predictions. I would peg us at 7.5 wins for the over under, just like this year, and would take the over. The fans that think we'll win 5 or 6 games are essentially assuming no changes or development happens in the offseason. They're emotional after a loss, just like had we won that game, fans might've thought we could make a legit shot for a CFP appearance or something like that.

The reality is we were a couple plays here and there away from a great season, while also being a couple plays here and there away from being a bad season (UNI / Texas games). We were exactly what our record showed us. I think playing ND was good for this team and coaching staff in which we all got knocked off our high horse. We could've played an average team and beat them handily and everyone would be saying how good we were, but instead we got our a** kicked. It's a reality check and I think this program needed it.

Being on a high horse after going 7-5?

This is the kind of stuff Ross was doing for us all year. Unsung hero in my book.

(#36)

Still sucks that ISU played that poorly against UNI before the bye week. Iowa would have beaten three ranked teams if ISU would have handled their business.

Not necessarily the record, but the overall play. Many people saw this team better than their 7-5 record because of the close losses. This bowl game was the epitome of our season: a talented team that constantly shot themselves in the foot. A potential great team that ended up being above average.

Very true. Also just noticed on that play LaPorta blowing back a really good player in Eisworth to seal the B gap. Really like this kid's future.

Revised it slightly as I seemed to have upset some with the way I laid it out before.

If I want my QB to roll up big stats throwing short, high % routes against bad teams, I'd take Purdy. If I want a QB who is clutch and steps up at critical moments against good teams, give me Stanley. Purdy's almost there, it's his spot to lose on next year's roster. Very good QB. He just needs to show he can step up at the critical moments, he said himself after the bowl game that this is something he needs to work on.

What about all the 4th and 1 situations where Stanley was able to get his fat body leaning forward to pick up the necessary yards to extend drives. That is very valuable that doesn't show up much in stat sheets.

Purdy was one of the best deep ball passers in all of college football last year and was also a top 10 QB in all of college football, so saying he dinks and dunks his way to success is hilarious. He also averages more yards per throw than Stanley. Most of Purdy's throws are 10-15+ down the field.

Also I already debunked this hilarious theory that Brock doesn't show up in big games, when he actually has brought the team down the field in multiple moments to win or tie the game and either someone hasn't made the play, or the defense then gives up the TD / field goal to win the game.

Lastly, no s*** it's his spot to lose. He threw for almost 4,000 passing yards this year, was 2nd Team All-Conference behind a Heisman Finalist, and he's only a sophomore.

Iowa State was better Campbell's second year. Not too concerned about things pre-CMC
The year both teams finished unranked in AP, ISU lost head to head at trice and Sagarin had the Hawks #18 and ISU #25?

That year? You can’t be serious....just stop.

Purdy is a good college QB, but he did regress as the season wore on. Not sure if he was dinged up or not, but it is a long season for sure.

I would much rather face Purdy and ISU in November than in September or October as it seems that is when they are at their best.

Not to mention Purdy had more turnovers than the entire Iowa team.
