That team would be really tough to beat getting to play with 14 players on offense.

There are Iowa fans on here that have posted listing more than 11 players is a dumb move.

I think it's still too early to determine the baseline with your coach (I think he is great, FWIW). Definitely a quick uptick from 2016-17, then another good season in 2018. But this year as definitely a regression. I know next to nothing about your team next year but I see a lot of 5-6 win predictions in the thread over here. No idea if that is just the pessimistic fans or not, but there seems to be some worry about next season.

Not quite the same path Kirk took going from the bottom to 11-2 his 4th season, then another 2 great Top 10 seasons after that followed by a regression.
The OLine rightfully has many of is concerned for next year. I thought they did OK towards the end of the year but when you now have questions replacing that OK, it can be dicey.
Probably a lot of short screens to start 2020 season.

Well yeah, we use a FB a ton. Really helps with 4th and 1 situations.

Those QB sneaks with Stanley were underrated all year and a big reason why he is even in the discussion against Purdy imo. Those were big plays all year that extended drives. The ones against USC were criminal and took their manhood.

And if he can continue that over 20 years, that would be great for ISU.
There aren't many coaches out there that stick with one program for their whole career, so I hope this plays out to be true. What Ferentz has done at Iowa has been great. I see Matt Campbell's career being like Kirk's, in which he has some double digit win seasons every now and then, but consistently wins 7,8, and 9 games a season.

Well I would disagree with them. ISU and Iowa both play multiple people outside of just a 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB set. Lots of times both ISU and Iowa are in multiple TE sets.

If you're doing short screens, I'd feel much better with the ISU staff calling them than Greg Davis.

If Matt Campbell has even just a 10 year run like KF he will be considered the greatest ISU football coach ever.

No it won't, only expanding the playoffs and giving automatic bids to league champions will expand the playoffs. Oregon was left out of the playoffs because they played a tough non con opponent this year.
TV is going to push for better ooc scheduling when these deals get renewed

Didn't you have a FB lateral the ball on 4th and short to nobody?
For sure, luckily it happened in a game we won by 24 points or something so we can definitely laugh about it. Ross was a stud as a blocker this year and a huge part of why this team was able to win 10 games and finished ranked in the top 15 or whatever we will be. One of the best FBs Iowa's had IMO.

I think you'd agree, inopportune turnovers shouldn't take away from the greatness of a player.

I wouldn't read into those fan's predictions. I would peg us at 7.5 wins for the over under, just like this year, and would take the over. The fans that think we'll win 5 or 6 games are essentially assuming no changes or development happens in the offseason. They're emotional after a loss, just like had we won that game, fans might've thought we could make a legit shot for a CFP appearance or something like that.

The reality is we were a couple plays here and there away from a great season, while also being a couple plays here and there away from being a bad season (UNI / Texas games). We were exactly what our record showed us. I think playing ND was good for this team and coaching staff in which we all got knocked off our high horse. We could've played an average team and beat them handily and everyone would be saying how good we were, but instead we got our a** kicked. It's a reality check and I think this program needed it.
