All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

Unfortunately I think it will trickle down to noncon and teams deciding to play weaker opponents. Oregon barely lost to Auburn and if they won that, they are probably in over OU. Hell, Baylor played no one in noncon and I don't know what happens if they beat OU for the B12.
Totally agree with this...sooner or later TV $$ are gonna force better ooc scheduling

No it won't, only expanding the playoffs and giving automatic bids to league champions will expand the playoffs. Oregon was left out of the playoffs because they played a tough non con opponent this year.

Not really that crazy at all. Happens every season where teams with more talent and better coaches finish behind other teams they shouldn't. It's a crazy game though I'll give you that

But this is like the 8th year in a row that Iowa is better. Crazy stuff.

I think offense is pretty cut and dry.

QB: Purdy
RB: Hall
WR: Jones
WR: Pettway
WR: Smith-Marsette
TE: Kolar
OL: Wirfs
OL: Good-Jones
OL: Linderbaum
OL: Knipfel
OL: Jackson

You would think so, yet I added just one /and Goodson to the list and all hell breaks loose.

Pretty close I think.

I think the OL should be Jackson, Downing, Linderbaum, Banwart and Schott. I didnt think Newell played hardly at all this year prior to the bowl game.

Defense I would take Petersen off and replace him with Nixon and remove Colbert. I have not been impressed with him in his time at Iowa. Niemann would probably be the logical replacement at this point.
Newell started all 13 games in 2018 and was the starter at C for the opener, but was out for an extended period after with a knee injury. I think he’ll be a solid interior OL for ISU for the next few years.

I have no love for Ohio State but they showed the other night that they were every bit as capable as Clemson. Refs had way too much impact on that game. I thought overturning the fumble return TD was horrible. Totally changed the game.

Cant argue that was a bad call in my opinion.

Iowa State’s OL is definitely a concern for 2020.

Any time you lose 4 starters, particularly the two tackles, it’s rarely a good thing.

Everywhere else should be pretty solid.

Biggest concern for Iowa next year is DE imo. Losing Epenesa will be hard to overcome. He was a generational talent that could do things that no one else on the roster could do. I've never watched a DE so much before especially on obvious passing downs. He will be missed big time.

I think Newell is going to be alright for you guys. Kinda wish Iowa would have offered to see what would have happened. I think he was a good addition to your class.
