So him throwing 2 passes in that game means what?
That he was our backup QB. If they had the redshirt rules they have now, he would be a Junior.

That he played meaningful snaps in that game. What am I missing here?
No way. First round talent grade from Todd McShay. Iowa fans loved that.No kidding. If he didn’t burn that redshirt he’d be around next year.
so he played a meaningful possession in 1 game means....he should have beat ranked teams that year? What am I missing?

Looks like he played meaningful snaps vs Purdue that year as well. No I never expect Stanley to beat ranked teams considering he's a senior and only has 3
And they won that game. Another ranked win for Stanley! Oh wait...
Yeah I wasn't here during any of the past QB's years so I have no idea what was said and what wasn't. I know for sure that Purdy is the type of QB that Iowa State hasn't seen since Seneca Wallace was in the cardinal and gold, and Purdy is doing this as a true sophomore who will play two more years.I can admit that Purdy is great and even elite at this point. But I feel most Iowa fans were in a prove it to me first situation after hearing from ISU fans about how every ISU QB was going to be elite for the past 15 years. Purdy has proved it, so ISU fans are now like 1 for 10.
Purdue wasn't ranked
I don’t think he played any snaps against a ranked team that year. Because, you know, being the back up and all.
He actually did. In the bowl game Iowa played #20 Florida and Stanley went 0-1. Stanley actually should've played probably the entire 4th quarter because Iowa was getting blown out and Florida's defense was absolutely teeing off on Beathard, who looked pretty banged up.I don’t think he played any snaps against a ranked team that year. ah it was that year. Yeah they weren’t winning that game no matter who was in.
And I would never argue different. So yeah he's a senior with 3 ranked wins. Purdy is a sophomore with 3 ranked wins
Makes sense. I sort of felt bad for Beathard at that point in time. Every time Beathard took a snap he was immediately faced with pressure and there was nothing CJ could do.Coach Kilmer wasn't going to take Beathard out. I think that's when Hassell lost his opportunity to replace Dolph because he went nuts on Kirk about that on Twitter
