Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

They can't handle the truth. LOL
I will be the first to admit that JO's overall record while at ISU was not "outstanding." However, he is THE REASON / THE FOUNDATION for ISU's current basketball success & "Hilton Magic!" While he did NOT win very many road games in his tenure as ISU's coach, he had a 76.7% winning percentage in Hilton - thus the reason for Hilton Magic! That atmosphere was begun by JO and has NOT gone away (even though McDoormat did his best to try and destroy it). That is why Cyclone fans will defend JO. (For reference, Fran has a 74% winning percentage at home in 9 seasons.)

Orr did a great job with ISU

No, I can't handle stupidity. Clearly, JO wasn't the best coach of all time. However, JO made ISU basketball fun, the best event on campus, at this was all during a time when football was just a downright embarrassment.

Just like Iowa fans with the Big 12 tournament and how it "doesn't matter", that just completely disregards the simple fact that it's the most fun I've had as an ISU fan consistently. I absolutely love it. JO was just a ton of fun, and ultimately, that matters a lot more than his record.

Every Iowa State fan should support Iowa fans thinking Fran is anywhere near the coach that Orr was.

Honestly, Fran is doing a very good job imo. The 80’s are nearly a half decade ago- Iowa is a tough place to win nowadays and just getting them to compete for NITs and PIGs is a solid job. It’s similar to the work Orr did to get Iowa State to many tournaments, albeit with less relevancy

The reason that it’s stupid to gloss over the Conference tournaments is because it is one of three (possibly 4 with a holiday or pre-conference tournament) things that a team can actually “win”.

Johnny's record at ISU was 218 and and 200 in 14 years
Mad Fran's record at Iowa is 173 and 132 in 9 years

With Fran's current roster and sleek recruiting skills, he'll probably get 200 loses in the next 2-3 years, if Sideshow Bob doesn't can him before then. His loss total will overtake his win total during that same period. How 'bout them apples??

Hearing Frederick might not even play this year and get ready for the draft instead.

I was actually hearing that he would play in the regular season & then skip the tourney (B1G Tourney, that is) - wouldn't want to get hurt in that annual first or second round loss.

Made me remember something:
Sounds like Carton is expected to commit to Ohio State today. That surprises me; Michigan seems like the objectively best voice, and it’s not even close.
Why? Beilein is a great coach but did look at an NBA job and is 65. Holtman is a pretty good coach and quite a bit younger. Ohio State has a very good basketball program too.

The 80s are nearly 5 years ago?

I read a quote that Fran had recently about his roster being able to “compete on a national level”.

Are we looking at the same roster?
I would be willing to wager that Iowa will be better than ISU this season. I'd be willing to wager that I would never post on this board again if I were to lose. No more gifs or random smugness.
