Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

I think Fran has probably hit his recruiting peak. Let's face it, with every year that passes a smaller percentage of Iowa kids are Hawk fans vs. ISU fans and I'm pretty sure he's done reproducing.

So basically Fran's recruits have been:
- His offspring
- Kids that are lifer Hawks that are going there no matter what
- Guys without major conference offers
- Cook and Garza

So about every 4-5 years he actually beats out another power conference school for a recruit.

The good news is that once he finishes second in the Foster recruitment he can pair that with his Tyler Ulis finalist coupon and redeem them for a free Casey's Pizza.

Actually in keeping with the Casey’s theme he would need 10 of those coupons to be redeemable for a free pizza.

Johnny Orr for sure.

Johnny's record at ISU was 218 and and 200 in 14 years
Mad Fran's record at Iowa is 173 and 132 in 9 years

With Fran's current roster and sleek recruiting skills, he'll probably get 200 loses in the next 2-3 years, if Sideshow Bob doesn't can him before then. His loss total will overtake his win total during that same period. How 'bout them apples??

How about what apples? Just pointing out that Orr had over 300 career losses in his career. He also had his worst winning percentage of his career while at ISU. Had he stayed at Michigan, he might of been able to win a national championship.

Johnny Orr is one of the greatest at Iowa State because he helped change the culture and the landscape of Iowa State basketball. He did things that hadn't been done since the 50's. He was no doubt a great coach but strictly looking at wins and losses doesn't justify the legacy he left here.

The original question was who can hang around long enough to gather 300 losses. Johnny Orr has already been there and done that.

Sure hope Fran is still at Iowa to collect his 400th loss which in another 5 years it should happen, if not sooner. Heck who know's maybe Barta has it written in his contract that Fran gets a bonus for getting his 400th loss. Keep those secret contracts coming Gary!!

I think Johnny spent about 3 times as long in a power conference as Fran has. Johnny didn’t have the fortune of coaching at the podunk schools Fran has on his resume.

Fran has had a better WP at Iowa than Orr had at ISU.

Imagine how dumb one would have to be to come to CycloneFanatic and assert Fran McCaffery is more successful than Johnny Orr was.

I know you guys have to keep telling yourselves licklighter to try to rationalize the levels of success, but you were literally 4 years removed from a 3 seed in the tournament.

jesus this is just stupid
