Next years lineup

Yes. Every single day. That would be horrible. We would be in trouble for next year. Hard to replace 6 guys who contributed. Jacobson, Haliburton and Nixon would have to carry us.

Now I'm worried even more since Thompsonclone also has the same concern, and he knows ISU basketball as good or better than anyone on here.

Thanks a lot Thompsonclone for easing my fear! o_O

Leech isn't going to play at all? What happened to him?

I’d put Anderson in the same category as Leech considering the DMR projects 0 minutes for both of them.

I also think 5-10 minutes for Jackson might be too low. He might be our best shooter.

Those are fair points. They seemed to hedge if Jackson or Grill was clearly ahead of the other, though it did hint that Jackson is doing the best of the freshman right now.

I can see Prohm needing another guard off the bench to bring the rotation to eight but probably not nine, so one of the two of them is probably going to be real contributor.

As to Anderson, I suppose he might receive some mop-up duty in the non-conference against overmatched foes. That is why I put him as outside looking into things.

Johnson is not eligible. It sounds like Leech is not ready to play. I know we argue about this, but it almost sounds like they were hinting towards a redshirt for the young man.

You probably know my view on Leech redshirting. I’m all for it. That makes sense Anderson would be above Leech in that scenario. If Leech doesn’t redshirt though, I’d put him in the same category as Anderson.

Disappointing Lewis still couldn't work his way into major playing time.

Sometimes guys bust.

I still support him and hope he turns it around.

But if a guy cannot make an impact at the guard-wing either two years ago or this year, the I doubt he is ever going to be a Big 12 player. Not all are.

I give him a pass for last year, but the rotation is still wide open for next year.

I thought I read somewhere that Grill was actually further along than the coaching staff thought he would be. It will be an interesting start to the season for sure. I suspect that guys that work on defense and can make outside shots will be the ones that rise to the top. Lots of young guys on this team. There are going to be nights when one of them goes off for 15 and then they don't even score the next game.

Hopefully Prohm with have it all figured out before the Big 12 starts.

My hope is that somehow Griffin and Conditt make enough major improvements that they end up supplanting Jacobson and Young in the starting lineup or at least supplant them in terms of minutes. I just find it hard to believe that a front court of Jacobson and Young is going to be good for ISU in terms of both offense and defense.

Solo can bang with the big boys down there on D. Offense would be more of my worry.

I was praying all summer Conditt would make a big enough jump from freshman year to supplant Jacobson since Conditt’s ceiling is so much higher.

Honestly, I think the duos of Solomon and Griffin, and Conditt and Jacobson make more sense than a Solomon and Jacobson with the other 2 subbing in. Could almost run a 2 in 2 out scenario to keep everyone fresh.

Matching Griffin's athletic ability as well as his shooting with Solomon's defense makes a lot of sense to spread the floor.

I read on here that Griffin is closer to 6'8" now.

It is my understanding that he played on the block in high school, too.

He came in as an undersized PF, but he might be a legit PF now.

He projects as a nice stretch big man if he indeed has an outside shot.

Hopefully he has the athleticism to guard 3-5.

We shouldn't read too much into the starters for Tuesday's game. Prohm will be giving the older players the nod to start. CSP's comments on both Conditt/Griffin have been pretty pointed on their potential and I believe both will get the opportunity to earn a starting role in the non-con.

The constant drum from reporters on Tre impressing in practice and the need for 3 pt threat will earn him first guard off the bench early. Grill has impressed the staff too especially as an Big 12 athlete from what I saw but will need to demonstrate he can hit the three to earn major minutes.
