Hello everybody!

OUR TIME IS HEREEEEE.

Let's talk media day and the overall season what we're expecting from me. What you're looking for. I can share some stuff I have planned for Tuesday too and see what ya'll think!

I will also be attending on Wednesday for the C+G finals. So let me know what you're thinking for that. I was going to focus on just video and social stuff and then I was going to throw it all into a post with highlights to make it easily accessible for anyone!

Just hit me with all you got.

I can read faster than I can watch a video....so that would be good.
Beat Iowa too, that would be good.

Please provide scoring of all of the matches if possible. Even the ones already completed. Thanks

If possible, I would think some post dual interviews this season with willie could have some pure gold nuggets in them.

Probably going to be tough to get information, but there's an issue out there to test your investigative journalism skills. Anything you can find out about the Echemendia situation would be much appreciated.

The staff has had several of their last big commits (Foca, Anderson, AE) end up flipping or not coming to ISU. What’s the problem and the plan to fix it?

What’s going on with Gomez weight? Iowa has one of the highest paced wrestlers in the country at 33, will Gomez have it under control so it won’t be a problem against Desanto?

A few of the guys really seemed to jump levels last year (Straw and Colbray). Is there anyone you expect to make a similar jump in levels this season?

The message boards we’re talking about Foca for 6 months to a year after he decomitted. I am not sure Foca ever took an official visit to Iowa State

Not sure I understand your point?

I don’t put Foca in the same recruiting woe as Anderson & Echemendia. Sure he verballed pretty early, but they parted ways shortly after. It was just never publicly announced

Coleman has to make the jump imo. He’s athletic enough. I’m hoping he comes back stronger.

They are all different in the details, but there is a trend of guys committing and then not coming for some reason or another, and Foca fits that trend.

Unfortunately that is a trend occurring with all of ISU’s best recruits. Maybe the staff is targeting the wrong guys. Maybe they’re not offering enough money when it gets down to the financial discussions. Whatever it is, I’d like their perspective.

I agree we need to start landing some & not getting in top 5

It may be only that these were high risk/reward guys that we had them verbal in the first place. Foca was long ago and never seemed really committed. Anderson was known to have grade issues. AE is a Cuban defector with a lot of unknowns considering high school transcripts, test scores, etc. It had to be no shock to anyone if he had struggles pulling together admissions information.

I had hopes Metcalf would be a great recruiter and he may still be. He absolutely needs to pull in Fucundo though.

Top kids of the 2020 class we were finalist for:
Gerrit Nijenhuis
Dominick Serrano
Clayton Ulrey
Joey Zargo
Jakason Burks
Thayne Lawrence
Maxx Mayfield
Cullan Schriever

Those are kids in the top 55 that we went 0/8 on just for this class alone

Top kids of the 2019 class we were finalist for:
Cohlton Schultz
Ryan Anderson
Ridge Lovett
Aden Reeves
Chris Foca
Jackson Turley
Top 43 kids - went 1/6 *Not including AE who would have probably been top 10 if he were in the rankings at the time*

Fact: Anderson didn't de-commit or flip... He had grade issues. I didn't think anyone was upset with the coaches when the kid didn't get into school for academic reasons. Are you suggesting the coaches should NOT have tried to bring him in? AE flipped but it happens to other top schools. Heck this guy named Suriano left Cael/PSU. To my knowledge PSU fan's aren't asking "what's problem and the plan to fix it". IF your going to go after the best recruits in the world your going to be disappointed when you don't land them. Heck, unless you're PSU I'd guess every program in the country has a problem.

Technically we went 2/6 OR 1/5 because Anderson didn't end up at any D1 school.

I know you don't like our 2020 class but the 2018 class had 4 Top 100 guys including Carr & Shapiro. (Before you say Carr shouldn't count, I know a lot of schools that tried hard to get him. Many on our own fans didn't think we were the front runners. And we didn't hire his Nate to the CRTC until after he was here. Nate is a valuable asset to the CRTC and those around the program or that really know wrestling understand this.)
