Defense played horrible

This was the worst the defenose has looked in 2 years missed so many tackles on the big plays I think offenses have found the weakness of this scheme

Dumb. The scheme is fine. If we wrap up on those tackles in the first half then we don’t give up those massive plays. The D played well in the second half and allowed us to tie the game up and gave us a shot to win.

Can’t help but disagree here. Defense was not great today but still was able to stop OSU and give to offense a chance. The unbalanced offense and terrible turnovers is what hurt us

Going into the game I think we had the wrong game plan, or at least OSU out-planned us in the first half. Second half defense was significantly better. The bad angles and missed tackles is a hallmark of ISU football at this point

Take away that 65 yd td run by Hubbard and we shut him down. Gave up 3 big plays but other than that the defense wasn't all that bad.

Turns out long TD’s count for 6 points too. I never understand the “we only gave up big plays” reasoning. Every safety not named Eisworth continues to be a weak point.

Troubling, but they cleaned it up and played well in the second half. Gave them multiple chances to win the game and the offense just choked.

One of those long TDs was because Eisworth went for the big hit and didn’t wrap up. He gets away with it most of the time, but he might actually be one of the worst guys in our D when it comes to wrapping up.

That wasn’t it though, he was wrapping up and got blown up by another defender and injured.

I’ll have to rewatch that play. I know that’s the play where he got injured and there was another defender in there too. It looked to me like both guys were going for big hit though.

It was a fluky play, they had it covered and the second and third guy knocked him off the WR. Then came some awful tackling.

The other two plays the safeties were non factors, never even forced a change of direction from the runner. They need him healthy to max out, but that seems like a long shot.

Three down line men at line of scrimmage. ISU coaches elected to play two on two at outside, 10 yds off the line. A missed tackle and it was a TD. OSU ate us up in first half. They chose not to run those same plays in second half.

This is the first year in quite a while that ISU sucks against those plays. We were fortunate to have corners that would come up and make the tackles, a lot of times for a loss. Peavy was great at that but Payne was even better. The corners this year can't seem to do it.
