Yeah, it’s an equivalent argument to “stop looking ahead, we need to take things one game at a time!” We’re fans, what we do has no impact on the game despite what we’d like to think.

I think what maybe does have an effect is if ABC dresses our quarterback up like a Greek philosopher to film a promo before a game when we're ranked in the top ten.

So...after we beat.the Oklahoma schools and are getting ready for Texas?

I used to be of this opinion. However, the publicity of being a top 25 team is what you should always want for the program
Plus, it means automatic highlights on SportsCenter and Gamenight Final. Being ranked is great, free national marketing and exposure - even in the pre-CFB Playoff rankings.

It helped our basketball program being ranked for something like 4-5 years straight or whatever it was before the down year. Didn't hurt getting back in for most of last year after a year out.

Michigan is a prime example why there shouldn't even be any polls released until week 4 or later.

The ONLY reason they will still be ranked this week is because they were so incorrectly overrated to start the season so high up in the polls.

They lost by seven. On the road. To a higher ranked team.

You aren’t making your argument here.

That totally aside from the fact that everyone knows that early season polls are talking points only. That’s part of the fun of college football. If there weren’t polls, we’d all be trying to guess where teams would be ranked anyway.

If there were no polls released until after 4 weeks of games.... would Michigan be ranked right now? Barely beat Army in OT, got destroyed by Wisky.... couldn't score at all against Iowa, etc. Not real impressive.

Michigan has looked like **** against their weak opponents. Completely overrated.

This is such a dumb train of thought, and for some reason so many fans have this attitude. Being ranked is a good thing.

Yes. They are still Michigan. Waiting 4 weeks doesn't make voters less biased.

Of course, Iowa barely beats a crappy Purdue team after losing the previous two games and moves back into the Top 20.

We’ll be in the AP Top 25. I’ve seen 10+ AP voters ballots on Twitter and every single one has us ranked (some as high as 18).
