bailey injury

Peterson is a stud. I have to think Bailey wants to play in the NFL. If so, I would think a redshirt would allow him to get healthy and maybe put up some better numbers next year.

I wonder if Bailey was not all that healthy to begin the season even before the injury. He wasn't causing too much pressure when he was in there.

WVU Depth Chart just came out.
Bailey is MIA.

Peterson is starter DE
McDonald is backup.

For what it's worth, Newell-C has been listed as the starter for every game's depth chart.
Although he has not played.

Bailey isn't MIA, he had surgery. You expected him to be on the depth chart the following week?

I'm sure a lot of you have noticed, but McDonald has been playing DE a lot this year. In passing situations to generate a pass rush
I thought I saw something from CW that said they put him back at DE when Bailey got hurt.

But if he can just come back for a bowl game is it worth it? It doesn't sound like if he is able to come back this year it will be any too soon.
Minor surgery is what, 4 weeks minimum to heal up? Let's say he's back healthy and in shape for the last three games, Texas, KU & KSU, and assuming he doesn't have a desire to redshirt, it sure seems like it'd be worth it to get him back to finish the season out. Assuming we're sitting at 5 or 6 wins going into those last three games that we be a huge boost.

I’m pretty positive Bailey is done for the season.

Newell was dressed against TCU. I think as long as the line plays like they did against TCU and not like they did against Baylor, Campbell won’t rush him back.

Isaiah Lee -any news lately on him? He wasn't suited up Saturday -was hoping he would see some minutes this year after some brief good moments last year during redshirt year.

I posted in another thread that I thought McDonald would move back to DE next year since there will be more depth returning at LB than DE. With the Bailey injury, McDonald is back at DE and I think that's great. I'm not saying he couldn't have been successful at LB, but I think he has potential to be a lot more dominant as a DE. Between him and Peterson I think we will be fine without JaQuan for the year. And if JaQuan does redshirt then the depth at DE will be solid next year and will make up a bit for losing Lima and Johnson in the middle.

I heard that the defensive brain-trust is looking at a 2 - 5 - 4 for next year.

Really....Why not have 5 guys 3 yards from line of scrimmage and rush anywhere from 1 to 5 of them. Could keep your gap integrity. Offensive line would have no idea what to be ready for until immediately after snap.

Or, 7 guys at the line of scrimmage and rush whatever you want and drop the others.

Had another idea for a struggling HS teams head coach. Get 40 X boxes and input their offense and defensive plays in it to go against the upcoming opponents plays. Have players do some gaming Mon to Wed. Probably would have to have someone do some serious coding for it to work. Thursday is walk thru. Friday play. Would have 99% of the boys out and probably a heavy open enrollment number of boys. Would they win more games just by dramatically increasing the numbers......Hum. Reduce injuries...hum. I may be the Knute Rockne of this century.

McDonald is supposed to be a beast so that's great. He really looks thin out there compared to some of our massive d linemen.

Similar body type like David Irving except not as tall and I have a feeling that he actually gives a **** about being out there.
