Honestly that was the one thing that I thought maybe I missed, but I seem to remember the trainers running out to him. It was a pretty quick thing though since it was just cramps, so maybe the refs didn't officially count him as injured. If you ever see the replay (I'd rather not watch any of that game again lol) let me know if I was mistaken. Obviously not a huge play but it just seemed to show some of the overall incompetence of the refs.
No asterisks, they way we were stepping on our own feet there are no guarantees we would have taken advantage. Holding calls and PI's are always subject to "in the eye of the beholder". However the helmet to helmet and the allowing an injured player(if true) back in before a play has been run show either the turning of the heads or incompetence. Either rightly opens up anything else to question.
Yeah, it was pretty poor "coverage" but D- might be a little harsh. He got away with it so can't hold it against him. It's an unfortunate call, but what can you do?

I do not, however, the injury happened in the back of the endzone and he was actually laying out of play when the trainers got to him. I remember specifically thinking that he is off the field game should resume. Especially since we had been running hurry up with no substitutions to make sure Iowa couldn't make any subs to the defensive line. The game stopped, and when it finally did resume Iowa State called a timeout.

He's lucky as hell that wasn't a holding plus a personal foul for the knee to the helmet after the whistle. Seen much less get called for both...
That was the best tackle of the game!
I just hope it is a coping mechanism that results in wanting to weight every snap of the game equally. When it’s a one point game, literally any play is possibly a game changer by virtue of what did or did not happen. But that’s bull ****.
That call is one of many plays that needed to go Iowa’s way to win. Just like we needed most of the breaks to go our way against OU in 2017, or UNI needed several to nearly win in Game 1. The issue with plays like that one is it wasn’t influenced by either team.

Scratching backs and bearhugs by offensive lineman are just tough Big Ten football. Only in a pissy little conference like the Big Twelve are those considered penalties.
