Initial CyHawk Game Predictions

It’ll be interesting to see if Rutgers will push Iowa at all or if it will be over by 3rd quarter.

Rutgers won big last week but UMass is currently 164 on Sagarin.

Wouldnt be shocked by something similar to last week for Iowa. A one possession game at halftime and then Iowa pulls away in the second half and covers.

Rutgers does have the potential to put a few points on the board but their defense is really bad.

We will rarely win this game playing the way they play. I genuinely think we'd do better chucking it around the yard every year this game than continuing to attempt the power football, clock control thing.

For that reason alone I can't pick ISU to win with any confidence, regardless of all other factors.

Their record doesn't show it but Rutgers was in many of their games last year, but lost.

Lost @ Michigan State 14-10
Lost vs Penn State 20-7
Lost @ Wisconsin 31-17
Lost vs Northwestern 18-15

I am in no way saying Iowa loses. They'll win. But seeing predictions of their fans of Iowa scoring 40 or 50 points is honestly laughable. Rutgers has a solid defense. The line is Iowa -19.5 I think.

Iowa 27
Rutgers 17

Not nearly as many as I have on here. How many phalluses of posters on this forum have you measured?
There is one missing from this chart(see below chart for answer):

Questions you should NEVER ask! Please @Hawkmi this is an egregious foul.

I wouldnt call their defense solid.

Hey, he's the expert on posters genitalia around here. Just want to know if I need to put a deadbolt on the bathroom door.
Do you deny that you are an insecure loser with a micopenis?

So the answer to my question is you admit to being an insecure loser with a micropenis.

Ok, cool. Now that we have established that, carry on trying to show you’re not a pathetic loser

You can think that, but you'd be wrong. They had an overall defense ranked 67th last year. That ranked ahead of teams such as Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, and Texas Tech to name a few.

Their past five games last year were against good teams with Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Penn State. You can't argue that this is a tough schedule. They were blown out by Michigan, but in the other four games they gave up an average of 20 points a game. That's nothing to scoff at. Could Iowa score 40+ tomorrow? Sure, but it's hilarious to assume it will be easy when you look at Rutgers recent games.

One more thing, Iowa played Northwestern, Wisconsin, and PSU last year like Rutgers did. Iowa gave up 72 points to those teams, or 24 points a game. Rutgers gave up 69 or 23 a game. So if Rutgers defense isn't solid...what is Iowa's?

You forgot their most recent game which was last week against UMASS and the only game involving this years defense.

They gave up 183 yards rushing and 5.4 yards per carry to a team that averaged only 4 yards per carry and less than 140 yards rushing per game last season.

You are cherry picking games to fit your narrative.

Iowa was 7th last season in total defense and 11th in scoring defense. Rutgers was 69th and 89th respectively.

And the SOS of Iowa and Rutgers last season is almost identical.

Yes. Rutgers is a very good football team. Might be the best we see until October. Definitely the most important game for us until then.

You think Iowa dominates. I don't. If you'd take pause from this site and go to your own and look at other Hawk fan predictions there are several that predict much closer than people assume. That's all I am saying...but because I'm an ISU fan I'm cherry picking and my thoughts make no sense. Classic trailer Hawk speak. Kudos, idiot.

If you ignore the worthless coach speak, Campbell is telling you exactly what he thinks of his team through his actions.

He had multiple times against an FCS team at home that he could have shown confidence in his offense and trusted them to get him a yard. They had 4th and 1, 3rd and 1, another 4th and 1, 4th and 3 all form midfield or UNI territory and he decided he couldn't trust his line to get him a yard. He would rather punt or pass than rely on them.

Usually you would say that was cowardly, but Iowa State showed late in the game they simply weren't to be trusted. The OL got key penalties, the RB fumbled, etc...

This isn't 2 years ago or last year. There is no 6'6'' freaks to bail you out on jump balls. There isn't a stud NFL RB to break the most tackles ever.

I am too lazy to look back in the thread - what is your score prediction?
