Initial CyHawk Game Predictions

No idea who wins. No idea which ISU offense shows up. If it's the Brock Purdy show, we'll score some points. If it's the watered-down **** show we saw Saturday, I can see another 13-3 type of game in favor of Iowa.
If we get the tight ends involved we will win. I can't see Iowa looking that good offensively. They haven't in the 20 or so years Ferentz has been there so why would next weekend be any different?

I'm hedging more on this.

# of beers I have the whole day- 20
# of fireball shots I have in the stands- 10

Tailgating starts at 5 am for me!! I guess I win either way!!

I’m going to hope that you hit the under on both of those. I’m not sure what is worse - the idea that you would desire to get ****faced and blackout drunk for the game, or the possibility that such amount of alcohol somehow does not get you ****faced and blackout drunk.

The ONE thing I’m sure about from an Iowa perspective is that they will rush four to contain him in the pocket. Or at least try. Unless he is picking them apart I see almost no blitzing from the Hawks. They will play coverage and make them drive the field. On third down they will rush three and use a spy.
Pretty much their blueprint. Provide pressure with four drop into middle zones, don't give up deep plays. We'll need to stay ahead of the chains with dink and dunk passes and run game. If we get behind the chains Purdy will have to drop dimes in the soft spots of the zones. Can Purdy do this, I think so. Will he have time too, I doubt it.

I feel the offense will be better and move the ball but I also think Iowa offense is better than last years. They will pass to open the run and once they get traction they'll play action to able receivers. They'll grind down the field in the 4th qt to score a late td and squeek out a victory. Hope I'm wrong.

What part of "all day" did you misunderstand on the beer? I did the "thunder" game twice on Saturday. Also have done forty hands before. Fireball is 66 proof not like the 90-100% proof like a lot of whiskey's. I think I know how to handle myself respectably. Not like drunk Hawk fans that go around hollering "F*** State" when I've been to games at Kinnick before. I'm also no college age kid either.

Why don't you just get your ****ty face off of CF?

After watching Epenesa as an every down DE the other night I'm not nearly as concerned. If Kirk reduces his snaps and uses him more as a pass rush specialist, then my level of concern would certainly grow.

This.. welcome to getting double teamed every play AJ.. he had 1 tackle I think. Don’t get me wrong he’s very good but now he’s an every down DE..

As for the game... Brock Purdy(BP)...of cmc and TM allow BP to be BP I think isu wins. BP has more good intangibles then just a pocket passer. Cmc and TM need to stop worrying and getting BP hurt and just play fball.

My hope is that the staff now has a game film to be able to open the offense up.. My hope is that We will see a game plan that plays to the strengths of our stud QB..

BP can run and when he escapes pocket or just rolls out it freezes LBs and safeties and a mobile QB creates more breakdowns in the secondary.

Otherwise if the game plan doesn’t change much and it’s more like last week or heck last years Iowa game then isu will lose.

Miami ran away from Epenesa all game, double teamed him on a substantial number of snaps, ran HB swing passes to his side to slow down his pass rush, and utilized almost exclusively short, quick passes. Epenesa did his job in setting the edge all game long and still racked up three QB pressures despite the factors listed above. He had a huge effect on the game despite having only one tackle. The idea that he was unimpressive or did not play well is laughable.

When the opposing team's entire offensive gameplan is designed around avoiding you, you're doing something right.

He got double teamed on only 20% of the passing plays I read on Twitter

Only one assisted tackle*
