Undefeated

Just win.

Despite the needlessly close game, a lot to like.

Biggest downside is losing our center, although the philosophy on offense continues to not match our ability to execute. Damn if that offense didn’t feel random, plus blunder filled for being conservative.

First week is always ****** up. It’s literally the worst week of the whole season to use as an indicator of how the season will end.
True. Really any individual week should not be used (or individual play in clonedude’s case).

That said, there’s possibility some validity in seeing this as a continuation of some consistent flaws that counter efforts to improve on 8-4. It’s never easy to win 8+ games, but it’s really tough with a suspect offense. I’m hoping the defense was just had some typical Game 1 gaps against a great effort from a slippery QB. (maybe it was just one game, but I’d pay his scholarship to have him in our QB room)

Nope, this is proof we will never win a game ever again in the history of the world. Might as well tear it all down and use the money and schollies to start up baseball. Any extra schollies can go towards fielding an e-sports team since that is the sport of the future.

Some credit to @cyclone101 for coming up with this over a Snapchat convo

As much as people want to ignore it, we lost, by far, our two biggest playmakers on offense. It’s going to take a little while to figure out who we are. But if the defense keeps doing what it’s doing, it should at least give us some time to hopefully figure that out.

That’s the optimistic view imo, similar to people at this time last year talking about missing Manning. DM and Butler were talented, but that game was similar to many over the past few years.

It seems we’re generally content with the offense not scoring on a high percentage of its possessions if we believe the defense can hold the other team. Even against the FCS you need to play mistake free with that approach. A needlessly thin margin for error imo.

I suppose you can call me optimistic. I’d call you unreasonable to think we could just seamlessly transition past two NFL draft picks that accumulated like 80% of our yards last season and not have any growing pains.
