I suppose you can call me optimistic. I’d call you unreasonable to think we could just seamlessly transition past two NFL draft picks that accumulated like 80% of our yards last season and not have any growing pains.
If you’re thinking there needs to be a seamless transition to score more than 13 against UNI in regulation despite only having one TO, the RBs averaging 4.5 ypc, then you’re even more down on this offense than me.

I’ve never said the game wasn’t totally disappointing except for getting the W. I’m just not going to panic after the first game. Still think we beat Iowa by 17.

As much as people want to ignore it, we lost, by far, our two biggest playmakers on offense. It’s going to take a little while to figure out who we are. But if the defense keeps doing what it’s doing, it should at least give us some time to hopefully figure that out.

I really liked ISU's options on offense today and it will be fun to see the growth and dimensions there.

Or am I supposed to be upset about that?

Should ISU have lost today?

This team in 2019 didn't lose Montgomery and Butler. They were not here in offseasons drills. They were not here for Fall camp. They were not here for the 1st game or any remaining games. The sooner the fans embrace that and not use it as an excuse for poor play, the better. They'll figure out their identity as to who the 2019 version of the Cyclones will be. We'll see improvement for sure.

IMO CMC and Manning didn’t put the offense in position to succeed. They obviously told Brock to not run the ball and we never tried to stretch the field. The game plan was way too vanilla and it almost cost us.
