Wonder if they'll call Brusdar Graterol up next week. There was some talk a couple weeks ago of giving him a shot, if that's the case I'd think he'll be there after Sept. 1.

The two biggest question marks the rest of the way:
1. Will Buxton be able to make it back in enough time to have an impact?
2. Will Berrios rediscover his earlier form?

If Buxton can get back into the lineup by Mid-September and Berrios catches a second wind this team will be tough to beat.

and...will Buxton finally play smart enough not to injure himself on a out that has no impact on the game. His talent is unbelievable...his decision making is questionable.

My guess is the Twins can replace or fix any damage from the football game.

This will mean completely new sod and a rebuilt mound. To the normal fan it may look fine but to the players it could make a huge difference.

No doubt the NDSU fans are rabid and will fill the stadium. No doubt this is a silly promotional stunt that makes no sense to us Twins fans.

Move the game to the Vikings stadium instead.

Weather looking like maybe a good chance they tear the field all the **** up on Saturday. So stupid.

Friday Night
A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

The trouble is, he's so fast, strong and athletic he can do things that nobody else can. He may even be doing things nobody in the history of the game could do. At least not regularly.

And yes. I do have a bit of a man-crush on Buxton.

A 90% effort Buxton is still probably better than 90% of the center fielders...but I agree...how do you slow him down?

You don't need to when hes on the bases. You just have to get him to realize he needs to when he's close to a damn wall.

I would say yes. They'll bring up a couple of their rookie pitchers that have been going back and forth from the majors as well. Also Wade or some other pitch runners. Might be Buxton's only role if he's not totally healed to hit.

I didn't get a chance to watch, but I saw Stashak got a couple innings. How did he look? I know he gave up a few hits.

This is exactly what spoiled Griffey Jr's career numbers. All those collisions with walls and diving in the outfield nicked him up, made him miss time, and thereby affecting his career totals. I still say he's the best, most complete baseball player I ever saw. Hit for average and power, stole bases, greatest defensive outfielder of his era.

Not saying Buxton is at that level, but if he keeps ramming into walls he will shorten his career.

Better effort from Berrios yesterday....6 innings, 3 earned runs (in the last 2 innings he pitched), 8 K's. The Twins are going to need Good Jose if they intend to make any noise in September and October.

His velocity was still down. His fastball was primarily just over 90.

Yeah this is the big concern with Berrios. I wish they would have skipped his turn once or twice during this stretch vs the Tigers & White Sox to give him a little rest.

He's worn down and been terrible from August onward in all three of his big league seasons, definitely a concern. It really makes me wish they would have made a trade for a true ace, which Berrios hasn't proven he can be for a full season.

Looks like that football game might not chew up the field today. Weather forecast went from possible 1" plus of rain earlier this week to just showers at 30%. Good news.

I think they do need to skip him in the rotation a time or two down the stretch, as long as you can do it without taxing the pen even more. While all teams work the bullpens hard, it seems like the Twins starters are never finishing the 6th. It seems every time Rocco tries to let the starters finish the sixth disaster ensues.

Graterol is getting called up. Things could get interesting.
