Hawk fans gonna turn on Stanley

What you just said is very reasonable and well thought out unlike some others. Pretty much the point I've been trying to make but you said it better. My only other point is that Stanley is not BAD. He played a couple BAD games but overall he is a pretty good college QB and the gap between him and Purdy is not as wide as some on here believe. That is right now today not what they project Purdy to be later in his career.

The #8 QB vs a QB not in the top 50 is a very big gap

I think a reasonable person would take Purdy over Stanley at this point in time. But I also think fans calling Purdy elite is very premature IMO (he's still a very good QB at this point). But let's see how he does over the course of an entire season before anointing him the second coming of our lord and savior JC. Drew Tate looked elite his first season but we all saw how the rest of his career turned out. But I don't think this is the thread for reasonable people.

How many people have called Purdy elite?

Yeah, both Paulsen's starting is certainly going to be a concern for the immobile one.

Both Paulsens are only starting week one because Banwart is dinged up. It’s nothing serious and he should be back by the Iowa State game. I highly doubt Miami Ohio and Rutgers are going to pose any problems for Iowa’s OL.

Banwart could be on one leg and he'd still play vs Iowa State

Purdy was an elite freshman quarterback last year that surprised a lot of people nationally. He is a very large reason as to why we're ranked in the preseason AP poll.
An elite freshman QB? Sure he was elite if you put that qualifier on there but it’s too soon to be calling him elite after 7 games.

He needs to go out and prove it that's for sure. But when you produce that type of efficiency and show that much skill as a freshman, you're going to get a ton of labels thrown on you and also have pressure on you. If he can do that again I don't think there's any problem calling him what he is.

I’d put people like Tua and Trevor Lawrence in the elite category. Do you think it’s fair to put Purdy in this category right now?
