All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

If you can’t acknowledge that QB stats are heavily affected by external influences, I’m not sure what else I can do to help you. Devin Booker was 7th in the NBA in PPG last season - that doesn’t mean he was the 7th best player, or even the 7th best scorer in the NBA.
Only Benji would give a **** about something like that.

So Purdy played one of the worst defensive schedules ever but Iowa's schedule was still easier than Iowa State's. What does that say about the offenses Phil Parker faced?

That’s because Purdy didn’t face either of the good defenses that Iowa State played (Iowa and TCU). You are using Iowa State’s overall strength of schedule in your comparison, which is irrelevant because Purdy never faced off against the two best teams on Iowa State’s schedule.

He also didn't get to face Akron

Texas and WSU were much better than TCU last season.

I’m talking about Oklahoma and Iowa. Iowa and Oklahoma were the two best teams Iowa State played last year. Purdy played against neither. Iowa and TCU are the two best defenses Iowa State played last year. Purdy played against neither.

So Iowa was better than Washington St, West Virginia and Texas last year?

You realize all three teams finished ranked ahead of Iowa and Washington St and Texas finished in Iowa fans most referenced "AP top 10"

You realize that the AP Poll isn’t a definitive determination of the best teams in the country...

Iowa finished ranked ahead of all three of those schools in Sagarin and Bill Connelly’s S&P+. I’d trust both of those rankings way more than the AP poll.

How many top 10 finishes does Kirk Ferentz have in those two polls?

You are making two different arguments here.

Says the person whose only contribution to a message board is to insult people who root for a team he doesn’t like. That insult really stings coming from such a distinguished intellectual.

Well you are an idiot.

Sort of. I’m saying Iowa State’s overall strength of schedule is not an adequate proxy of the quality of defenses Purdy faced because 1.) Purdy didn’t play against the two best defenses Iowa State faced, and 2.) Purdy didn’t play against the two best teams that Iowa State faced.

Sorry if that wasn’t made clear in the original post.
