Probably was with Bruce hitting stride and Iowa just out of or still in a two decade streak of losing records.
I mean they were exactly where they should have been with their record.. I'm saying that their schedule was extremely easy.. In the regular season, Iowa played 2 conference opponents with winning records, which were Northwestern and Wisconsin. Iowa did not play one good team from the B10 East. Wisconsin had the exact same conference schedule as Iowa. Northwestern played Penn State who went 7-6 that year and then did play Michigan who slaughtered them. So, Iowa's two best teams they played all year long had essentially the same schedule they did. Look what happened when Iowa played two legit teams back to back... They fought hard till the end in one and barely lost, and then they got ran out of the game in the first 10 minutes er so.
I was actually worried about Scherff playing against ISU. Like, to me, that was bigger than the rivalry. I was shocked TBH.
The fact it was confirmed he played that game "on one leg" makes me cringe. It's just a game
I mean Pemsl and Weiscamp played in the big game this year when both were suppose to sit out, while we held off on playing wigginton because we didn't want to risk anything.
The weird and vague week with the did he didn't he have surgery...that was odd.
I agree they were where they should have been. They were ranked #3 after beating Purdue at home and then #4 after winning in Lincoln to finish the regular season 12-0.
You said the national media wasnt giving Iowa respect that season but the rankings in the AP Poll, comprised of media from around the country, tell a different story.
And I dont remember any Iowa fans being upset with the Hawkeyes having a top 5 ranking to close out the regular season, let alone still being mad about it which is what you claimed. There were plenty that were ticked about Cowherd's comments but that was one person.
The AP Poll isn't what I was talking about. They could not snub Iowa like that. Iowa isn't UCF. Even though people thought Iowa was having a good season I remember people talking about Iowa's cupcake schedule. It was Colin Cowheard who turned into a big deal and got more people to talk about it though.
Nothing against Kempt, Purdy is just a super stud. You will be having nightmares about him until Christmas after the game this year.
I honestly could not remember the exact people who were saying that because it was so long ago. But I remember when talking heads were discussing their CFP teams, Iowa was not getting put in by anyone.
Thats weird because all I remember is pretty much a consensus that the winner of the Iowa/MSU game would be a lock for the playoff.
Also strange that you remember it that way considering Iowa was #4 in the playoff committee's rankings in weeks 13 and 14.
I know that's where they were I'm just saying there were those out there claiming Iowa's schedule was very easy and that's the only reason they were where they were. They would've for sure made the playoff if they won vs. MSU.
Question:
You posit that KF is a much better coach than Campbell. Tell me the logic of an inferior coach(Campbell) getting results that are so close to KF's that you are compelled to be on a cyclone website and telling just how much superior KF is to Campbell. How is this logical? Campbell took over a dumpster fire. Kirk has been at the helm longer than most senators. Help me understand how the joke of college football(ISU) is nip and tuck with one of the longest tenured coaches in college football?
