I looked at a Ridgeline many years ago. It had to support my tailgating needs. I didn't like the fact you couldn't lock things in the truck bed. The lockable compartment was nice, but was inadequate. I didn't like the idea of having my Honda generator, tailgate games, grill and portable coolers exposed to thieves.

Well I've got 228,000+ on my Dodge transmission and I'm pretty sure it's getting a little weak. Just did filters and fluid at 200,000 so I'm thinking it's going to be a bigger problem. Going to play it by ear and see how it goes. I work that truck though, actually had to add a leaf spring to it for the load that it carries a fair amount of the time.
I've got nothing but good things to say about Dodge/Chrysler products - all of mine have been great. But people STILL say Dodge makes bad transmissions because the Grand Caravan had a legitimate problem in 1994. Its ridiculous.
The only vehicle I've owned that had a major failure was a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am - a transmission failure, ironically. I'm not a GM fan because I generally don't like their designs, especially the interiors. But everyone makes highly reliable cars right now. Reliability problems across a particular model are pretty rare anymore.

so you might be using it outside of its designed specs and still have over 200k mi on it? I'd say that's a win.
it wasn't just Chrysler/Dodge/Fiat that had issues with that model of transmission, Acura and Land Rover were also having the same problems with it too.
Yeah, A lot of the transmissions are contracted out and not produced by the specific companies. So if you have a problem, it usually was an engineering problem between the vehicle company and Allison/Eaton or whoever produced the tranny.
Most of what goes into a vehicle comes from a supplier. Basically every sensor, the ECUs, window motors, axles and diffs, glass, etc. The manufacturer provides specs for the suppliers, design and maybe manufacture the big parts, then do final assembly. All the money in the auto industry comes from making loans, which is why all car makers also offer financing.
Check out the Canyon. My grandpa had a couple Colorados and when they went away he got a Canyon and it seems much better that way. I couldn't own a Colorado but I could a Canyon. The problem is you can pretty much buy a full size pickup for what they go for.
I'm a full-size truck office worker myself. So I wouldn't really consider the Ridgeline anyways. But I'd definitely consider the Colorado or Tacoma over that. I had a friend with the diesel Colorado and it was a nice little truck.
They don't really get that much better gas mileage and you can't tow big loads with them. I don't see Dodge rushing it, when their Ram is kicking butt right now.
Ya my mom has the '14 Cherokee, with the 9 speed. First gear jumps almost every time. Took it to the dealer, they just said its that transmission...
I got a new transmission at 21000 miles, and yeah it hesitates them jumps.
Really love the trail hawk though other than that.
Her's drives really smooth,(minus first gear jump) but it just feels like a girls car to me.
