Isaiah Moss Transferring

KU needed a good three point shooter. Moss is a good 3 point shooter. They dont need hom to be an "impact guy" that is going to be a 1st team All Big 12 type player. We already have 2 of those in Dotson and Dok.

Who will your guards be? Is he gonna come off the bench? If so, I think you'll be disappointed, he's a volume shooter that needs PT to get himself going. Definitely not a come off the bench and light it up type of shooter. Have you watched him play much?

If KU had Grimes and Dedric Lawson back to this coming years team and landed RJ Hampton, they would be in contention as a top 3 team in the nation... Just adding a freshman in Jalen Wilson and a guy like Isaiah Moss does not all of a sudden make them the best team in the nation.
Maybe you should go take a look at what the rest of the good teams in the nation are adding and returning. I think Michigan State is #1 good as well then it is Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis and Maryland up there.

Kansas isnt just adding Wilson (hopefully) and Moss. They are also adding Azubuike and DeSousa. Oh, and Tristan Enaruna, another top 50 recruit.

I would expect Dotson, Moss, DeSousa and Azubuike and then the last starting spot to be either Agbaji, Jalen Wilson or Marcus Garrett.

Oh, I keep forgetting we also added 6'8" top 50 recruit Tristan Enaruna as well. That dude will get some minutes somewhere too.

Enaruna was not a top 50 recruit

It's always refreshing when Kansas fans stop by and let us know how they are a lot more gooder and smarter than us when it comes to basektballing.
Huh? I am just having a conversation and responding with my opinions, same as everyone else. I have made no effort to label anyone as wrong or myself as right. It's just my opinion, disagree away. To each their own.

So not much PT for Moss? Its tough to see him playing well coming off the bench, he didn't respond well to that at Iowa. Moss is a little bit better but you're putting your hopes in Sam Cunliffe 2.0, didn't that guy shoot 40% at ASU? Wasn't he expected to be a great shooter? Didn't Charlie Moore shoot 35% at Cal? I wouldn't get caught up in what he brings on paper.

They beat Michigan State, Tennessee and Marquette with Dok, were undefeated and ranked #1. Seems pretty good to me.

I could care less about the media rankings outside of the perception benefits.

They also only beat Louisiana-Lafayette by 13 at home (the #161 team in the country), went to overtime with a crappy Stanford team at home, barely pulled out a game against New Mexico State at home (63-60), and never played a true road game with Doke.

You do not get to cherry-pick your best performances to define a team. If we did that, then Iowa State, based on our road wins in Lubbock, Manhattan, beating up Kansas in Hilton, and down in Kansas City, was obviously the best team in the Big 12 last season.

Not how it works. You know that. You have to look at the totality of the CV.

They could be great but were inconsistent. Iffy guard play does that to you.

There is definitely a difference coming off the bench when the guy playing in front of you is talented and not the coaches entitled son.

I think he'll be better than Grimes and could be a Svi type player.

I think he's solid but I just don't think he'll get the type of PT to be that kind of a player. Self likes Garrett for his all around game, he'll play a lot, so will Abagji and Wilson is a top 50 guy, that's 4 guys playing the 3 or 4 if they go small. That's just his competition if they play small, you have to throw in Desouza in there as another guy who will take minutes from him if they play a traditional lineup.

Cherry picks games and then lectures about cherry picking. Classic.

Six of Dok's nine games last year were against teams that played in the NCAA tourney and KU won them all. Two were vs. #2 seeds. Kansas is 50-9 all time in games where Dok played. If you dont think adding him to this year's squad makes an impact then I guess we'll agree to disagree.

For the life of me, I still can't believe Kansas needed a player like Moss. I liked Moss at Iowa and he did improve, but I still don't see a "Kansas" level player. I guess for one year, they aren't risking much. I just wouldn't expect him to be much of a difference maker. I wish him the best in his career.

Moss will start and play 20+ minutes. Wilson is a Top 50 recruit, not a Top 10 recruit. He wont play more than maybe 10 minutes a game.

It just depends on which Kansas player you have in your head. He doesn't need to be an All American. He just needs to be a contributing part of the rotation, do his job and knock down some deep threes to keep Dok from getting double teamed all the time. He seems fully capable of that.

That's what he'll need, don't get me wrong, he's a solid player, I just don't know if his shooting, which is super inconsistent, is worth the sacrifice you'll be giving up defensively and athletically. He'll be the difference in a few games but idk how much he raises KU's potential as a team.

I was taking into account that Kansas was getting Dok and DeSousa.. I also know that Kansas is returning Dotson as well.. That all being said, there are preseason rankings out there that put KU @ #9 and i'll say it again, adding a true freshman and Isaiah Moss from the Iowa Hawkeyes is not going to move that scale that much if at all.

You picked their handful of best ones -- I picked their handful of worst ones.

The absolute best teams in the country... Gonzaga, Virginia, Texas Tech, Michigan, Duke... were not almost losing to effluvia like Stanford and NMSU at home.

You can say a W is a W, but any reasonable person should conclude that being scared by bad teams at home probably means you are not quite tippy-top elite.

Doke moves the needle on the team last year, yes, and I think he will be a first-team all-Big 12 guy next year if he comes back healthy and strong like he should.

But the idea he was the difference between the blah ~#20 Kansas that you got and maybe being one of the, oh, five best teams in the country last year...?

Nope.

They were not playing anything near that level when he was healthy. Yes, they had some nice wins, but never on the road, and they had some awful performances against bad teams at home, even if they ended up winning those games. You have to average that out.

Their problem was not with the big men. Doke only piled onto a strength. Their problem was with guard play and shooting. A healthy Doke does not help with that.

Meh, who cares. Last year is over. Next year is coming and Kansas will field a team that will be in contention. #2, #9 who cares. They're in the mix and I am excited. Poo poo it all you want, it doesn't bother me in the least.

Clearly Fran is playing chess while Self is playing checkers. You guys just don't see it yet...
