Iowa offering free tickets for the MSU game

There is no way your tuition is 60k. Maybe if you combine rent, meal plan, books, and tuition at an Ivy school.

Tuition alone is over $60k and the total cost of attendance for one year is listed at over $80k. I’m not there for my undergraduate degree, but it’s still an absurd amount of money.

Iowa State was giving away free tickets to the Drake game to anyone who wanted them.
Iowa was going to give away numerous paid tuition bills, to get students to football games.

The Drake game with that weather pales in comparison to the thought of having a promotion that would break the law.

You keep referencing the Drake game, and like everyone else has said, that game was unlike any game ever before. You really have invested your argument 1000% into an absolutely terrible take. Calling out fans because they didn't show up to a game that was:
  • Added to the end of the season schedule during the year
  • Had horrendous weather for an outdoor game
  • Featured a no-scholarship FCS team
  • Held no bearing on bowl eligibility
  • Was the replacement for another game on the schedule
I had a ticket for the SDSU game, but couldn't make it to the rescheduled game becaue I couldn't get back to Iowa again.

Even with all those "excuses" if you want to call them that, that is one example. There are countless references for Iowa basketball. This was not a regularly scheduled, indoor game, featuring Iowa's best team in years against a top-10 team, could have major impact on the B1G title...

I'm done with this silly argument. I imagine Carver Hawkeye will be pretty close to full, and I will say when full it is loud. But you cannot deny that it awful embarrassing for the University to have to bring this much attention to their inability to fill their gym. They've circled it in a bright hi-lighter several times in the past week. There's just really no excuse for any kind of true fan base to not get themselves to a game of this magnitude and to have to resort to a very public plea for people to come. Iowa's crowd does not look like, say, Penn State's from the other night, but they struggle to fill the place. That much cannot be denied.

I agree, they could use a lot of improvement, but it is widely exaggerated how bad it is on this board.

13 - 14000 fans is a good crowd in today’s environment. Just look at all the half empty arenas around the country.

ISU fans were so pumped that Pollard scheduled Drake and then about 1,500 fans show up to the actual game featuring two teams less than 50 miles from the stadium.

Yikes, what are those loan repayment terms?

You might want to sit out a few plays because you're really struggling today.

That argument almost works if the game tonight was played outside...

Who bragged about how many fans were able to show up for the Drake game? Find me a post. I'll wait.

I bragged just because I had a sideline pass for the game. Best part was sitting on the heated benches at half. Even with snowmobile boots on you still got heat from the foot warmer at the base!

I'm sorry, did you see the weather that day? And conveniently, the game meant nothing really to the season or bowl game. Focus on the subject of this thread. That the Hawkeye fan base is such a joke that they have to be offered gifts to come see their over ranked team play one of the few good teams in the entire conference. Idiot Hawkeye fans that yap on other people's fan boards, now that's embarrassing!

This is where you have lost any credibility you might have had. Nice try though.

I feel like I’ve seen this movie before...it was called “Slapshot”

Seems like even Tyler Cook is calling out the lameness of his fans. This is the second shot I've seen him take. I'm liking him more all the time.
