I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

I like the poster that mentioned making Fred the top assistant. He said he knew Fred wouldn't do it, but then goes on to talk about "fallen coaches" doing it to regain traction in their careers. Fred can get a head gig in college and won't surprise me to see an NBA team give him another shot soon.

People here are talking/hoping for him as a UCLA candidate, but yeah, he's gonna hold a clipboard for Mad Fran giving Mini Mad pointers.

You guys must remember the Duke Rule, if the name on your jersey does not say DUKE, and if you have 3 or more white guys on the floor at the same time during any critical point in the game, you most likely suck. Exceptions are made if they are European players, or a religious school like BYU or something.

Let me wrap my head around this...did they say that maybe, just maybe, he could be "an assistant" to "help" with recruiting??? Are they meaning be Fran's assistant? BAHAHAHAHA
Are Squawks really that full of themselves that they would believe Fred would be ok to work as one of Fran's henchmen???
Ummm, tavern dwellers....how do I put this. Fran couldn't even be Fred's juicebox boy. Let alone his head coach. You really are delusional aren't you? Seek help.

Who knows about upside, but I'd take 3 of Iowa's bigs (and 3 of ISU's bigs) in a heartbeat over a healthy Bol Bol if I'm trying to win this season.

Guy is waaaaaaaaay more of a project than he's been made out to be. Iowa's bigs dominated him.
Bol is out for the year and is headed to the draft.

Now after yesterday Iowa's two big time wins in NY are nothing. UConn and Oregon have combined for 11 losses already and both are crashing. ISU is Iowa's only hope for a good non con win on their résumé. People have that impression of a tough noncon in their head, but it has turned out to be cake. Home against the only possible at large NCAA team on your schedule in a short-handed ISU.
Iowa should have a good SOS by year end thanks to a very good conference and ISU, but they have to be above .500 the rest of the way or they will be on the outside looking in.

So let me get this straight.... the media is scared of Fran?

Sure sounds like it when Rob Howe says something to the effect like.... "you go ask Fran tough questions then".

How sad is that. You can't ask tough questions of a guy making nearly 3 million a year because that's somehow unfair to him? Wow. What a mess that program is right now.

Iowa media is terrified of the Athletic Department and know if they ask anything but softballs they'll lose their press privelages

This was my fav in that thread -

He's tainted. Gable was a once in a generation or three... exception. Freddie's "approach" would also not go over well with the East Bankers. He's also overrated. 1 Sweet sixteen ain't exactly hall of fame material. (outside of Ames). Good, but not great.

Response from a hok that stumbled on some wisdom:

1 sweet 16? That’s the same amount as Alford, lickliter and Fran combined. Hell, even the NCAA tournament itself seems like a pipe dream for Fran coached teams.

Yeah they have a very skewed view of what their success has been like for about 20 years now.

If Nebraska wins you can see they still have a path to a decent NCAA seed.

If they lose today it's looking like both of these programs were kind of fool's gold in the non-conference. I know the records were good and KenPom likes Nebraska but the idea that both of those programs are/were better than Purdue with Carson Edwards seemed pretty insane against my natural instincts.

1 sweet 16 for Fred? Yeah, that’s not bad. We were in an awful spot when Fred took over much like them with Lick.

When I lived in Nebraska for six years I discovered the trashiest sect would break down the words like this.

Gobi
GRED

go bi GRED

emPHASis on the GRED

gobiGRED

Trashiest sect? Is this a case of the 98% making the rest look bad here?

There really isn't any indication out there for its fans that says Iowa basketball is relevant. Unfortunately for them, it isn't anywhere near bad enough to force a change.

Too bad for them!

yeah most of them were gobiGRED

Another thing I liked is they all called the Jordan Bulls Alan Parsons song "The Husker Song". It was literally during the Jordan dynasty and all radio stations would play call in requests for "The Husker Song" and it was the Alan Parsons song MJ and the Bulls used as their intro.
