Lost a bet I assume. My seasonal gesture of peace and goodwill to all.
I have no idea. I didn't bring it up. But the point was that you don't need great speed to be a good RB and Montgomery is proof.
I can agree on Gordon. Eno was a better RB prospect than Brock was and had a good year on a .500 team. Higdon would have been behind Wadley or with him, which IMO is a wash. Wadley was good at Iowa.
Do you think Iowa wins 12 games with Eno this year or at least 10?
Logan Wolf stayed committed to UNI and signed this morning. Kirk coming late didn't get the job done.
Great. The point was Coker sucked.
You feel pretty strongly about this.
The only thing I feel strongly about on the subject is Iowa wins at minimum 1 more game, probably two more if they had Eno
Coker was 6’ 235lbs at Iowa and 4 star recruit coming out of HS.

He ran all over Missouri behind an OL that was missing three starters in the Outback Bowl. They had a 3rd string starting at RG. Was kind of an ugly game but Mizzou was so weak up front, Iowa was able to run the ball on them at will. Coker had 212 yards, including a breakaway for a long TD.
He had 140 yards rushing and a 4 ypc carry avg in the 44-41 OT loss to ISU. Anyone that thinks he “sucked” prior to his dismissal and injury simply isn’t an astute observer of football or was like 10 years old at the time. He ran for over 1300 yards for a mediocre Iowa team that year.
I’ll give Iowa the benefit of the doubt at CB because ISU’s youth there is definite, but ISU has a pretty decent amount of depth at LB.They win a couple close ones..yea. Eno is the real deal. It can be tough to run the ball consistently with a young or inexperienced OL against teams like WI or PSU and that showed this fall. ISU to their credit got out of that 4-2-5 defense after the first 2 series and shut the running game down by putting 8-9 in the box all afternoon. It did cost them the game at the end but they pretty much provided the blueprint of how to stop a struggling running scheme. Not sure why Iowa didn't go over the top more often but that's on the QB.
As for LBs and CBs, Iowa is likely a lot deeper at those positions but ISU did pretty well there. Hockaday was serviceable but wasn't the same after his injuries, Welch is the better athlete and will be the starter next fall. Jones will be a decent backup but has all the physical talent to do well, just isn't horribly instinctive. Djimon Colbert and Nick Niemann will be NFL players in 3 years. The secondary will be pretty good for the next few years. Brents probably will be a 3 year starter if he doesn't leave early. Hankins might be in the same category if he stays healthy. He missed a few games this fall.
They lost every close game that year. Go look at who was on that defense. They weren’t mediocre, they failed miserably and part of it was the RB position.
They lost every close game that year due to the injuries at LB. James Morris made his first start late that season as a FR. They had lost 3 of the 4 LBs in their two deeps and that killed them in close games vs Wisconsin and Ohio State. They could stop other teams when they needed to. They scored a lot of points tho.
The year he ran for 1300+ yards was in 2011. Clayborn, Klug, Prater etc were all gone by then. He played as a true FR in the 2010 Insight Bowl due to injuries to Jewel Hampton, the loss of Wegher and the suspension of Adam Robinson. He still managed to run for over 600 yards in 5 games. The defense in 2011 was fairly young and lacked much outside of Mike Daniels.
Iowa's depth at the LB seems to always be a concern
Don't tell that to the basketball crowd when discussing Young and Wiggs being injured. They lost every close game that year due to the injuries at LB.
Speaking of monumental Iowa RB misses, Higdon is sitting out the bowl game for Michigan
Don't tell that to the basketball crowd when discussing Young and Wiggs being injured.
Monumental? Didnt you say Iowa wins 1 more game with him this year? going 9-3 vs 8-4 is a monumental miss? You are trying to hard here.
If this is the case. Iowa is the better program than ISU with Higdon or Eno if they are monumental misses.
