Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

I would watch points in transition and rebounds for an indicator in this game.

Score before they can set the zone up

You can rebound well against a zone, especially with a quick, active team like ours.
Straight up ass kicking last night. No way around it. Not looking good on Thursday against ISU without Wiescamp as it was already an uphill battle. Be surprised if they kept it within single digits. Been very impressed with ISU so far.

Mmm, nice try.

More experienced team, at home. 18th ranked team in the country. NBA draft first rounder. Only 2 losses in the toughest bball league in America. You have a solid young freshman starter out while we are still dealing with loss of 2 starters, one of them an all american.

Iowa will and should be favored by 3-4 points, maybe more. Should be a good game with Iowa's depth and experience probably being the difference.

Just don't like catching a hoks team that has it's back against the wall at home.

We have a lot of true freshmen playing their first real road game
They've struggled from 3 and going cold against a zone could be a problem

Look for Prohm to lean on veterans Babb, Shayok, & Jacobson. THT & Tyrese certainly don't play like freshmen. My concern is falling behind and abandoning ball distribution. Shayok & Tucker are great at answering runs, but I don't want to see them playing too much hero ball. That has plagued us in past trips to Carver. I hope Lard is ready, because we'll need him if Garza starts to heat up inside. The haks best chance is slowing the game down and turning it into a slug fest; making a living at the charity stripe. I'd love to see Haliburton chasing Jorbo around because I think his length could really shut him down. I don't want that ass clown getting a bunch of easy looks.

Just look at the number of free throws and fouls Iowa creates...it's a VERY good thing to have ZT and cam back. Iowa vs an 8 man roster this year is going to be tough.

Except that never works refs are always going to even it up as much as they can unless you’re team is Duke.
No Weiskamp.

Jorblo with zero assists in two league games.

Strange scenario unfolding here.

Well he’s too much of a liability to bring the ball up and he’s so easy to cover up that when he does get the ball he’s jacking up 25 footers.

Have you seen Iowa play since the NY tourney? Plus, Wiescamp probably will be out or severely limited on Thursday.

14th rated to back against the wall in two games.

There's something happening here.
