Predict Next years ISU & Iowa b-ball records

One of my clients was Hawkeye basketball drunk this morning. I'll be waiting for reality to set in. He did go off on a tangent that the best McCaffery was in 6th grade and more than held his own in the Prime Time League this summer. He's already 6'6" and they figure he'll be close to 7'. Fran is 6'5" and his wife is taller than him.

I don't think he knows what he's talking about, but to his credit he doesn't think much of Patrick.

Now at the Lihaina Civic Center (may be the same place?)

I'm excited to be in a tourney with such great opponents this early. Gonna be rough without 4 of our main pieces, but still a good test for our young guys trying to get acclimated to the college game.

My guess is ISU will have the second most fans out there (Behind Duke) but I will not be going, unfortunately. Am going to Austin this afternoon though, so that's a nice consolation.

I've been to Kaanapali and Lahiana before, and loved it, plan on going back at some point. Anyone who is making the trip will love it I have no doubt.

Actually not sure how improved Iowa is at this point. I do agree they wouldn’t have won that game last year.

Cook was getting after it on the defensive end, and Wieskamp looks like he will be a pretty solid defender, so I think Iowa’s defense has a chance to be much improved. However, Oregon’s guards (at least their starters) weren’t particularly athletic, which helped mask Iowa’s biggest deficiency defensively (guard penetration). I am encouraged by what I have seen so far, but not ready to claim the defensive woes from last year fixed after only three games.

Cook was definitely putting forth more effort. There were some lapses but you can tell he’s taking the advice given. I’m going to withhold judgement on Wieskamp until the competition picks up.

Fairly easy to put forth effort when things are going your way...tale of the tape will be when things become difficult. If Cook continues to put forth the effort then...good on him. He really is pretty important to their defensive schemes. Just like some of our guys...2-3 games isn't enough to determine if things really have changed for Iowa.

Are the same people arguing with you about Iowa benefiting from free throws the same who complained about ISU's win in 2013? Iowa was 14-21 from the line in that game while ISU was 23-36.

Against the Ducks, Iowa was 29-33, while Oregon was 17-24.

Of course Iowa benefited from the line. How can they argue that?

No one was arguing that Iowa didn’t benefit from shooting lots of free throws. Learn how to read.

Well this aged well. Wieskamp is now averaging half as many points as THT and shooting worse. Lol. Don't worry though THT has to face Arizona and then either Gonzaga or Illinois while Wieskamp gets Alabama State Wednesday so he should have some games to pad his stats

Isn't the most important thing to win? The thing about the 2 games was Joe was off but still contributed on D and helped breaking the press both games...didn't force things. In the end the Hawks didn't need his offense and won the games which is usually the objective.
